Trump has a new platform the media says.

It's a blog.

That's pretty much all the hype was about, a blog where the former President can communicate to everyone his thoughts and opinions. I don't understand why he needed to wait months to set that up? It's not a true social media platform as it's one sided...only he can post LOL So in my opinion it's a bomb.

Just took a look. Not going to be following that at any time.

I'm thinking it may be too soon to say, Lamm.

If it's just to be a series of quick jabs at opponents, then you'll be proven right. And he certainly cannot invite every hater to reply with their own special venom. But if he were to rally supporters with real information and planning for whatever campaigns he is involved with in the near future, maybe then. We'll see pretty quickly.

Albion --- The problem is that he has never had a coherent thought out platform. His term as President was just made up as he went along --- he would say anything to anyone at any time if he thought it would gain him some adulation or some momentary advantage. He needs an audience to strut before.

Well, now you've just described every American politician (bolded part of quote).

It certainly describes quite a few but the Donald is head and shoulders beyond the wannabes. Well, Ted Cruz is trying hard to break away from the pack.

Frankly, I cannot imagine how anyone who has followed politics at all closely could say what you wrote here. The truth is that Trump pursued those agenda items, as President, that he had campaigned on, probably better than any other president in the past half-century.

He restrained illegal immigration, built the wall as much as Congress would permit, defended the second amendment, reduced taxes for the Middle Class, brought industries back to the USA from abroad, strengthened the military but started no new wars (unlike all his predecessors of recent times), made our allies pay a fairer share of their national defense, supported Israel's right to exist, and reduced unnecessary government regulations on business and personal freedoms.

That said, how about comparing his record with Biden, who in only 100 days has already violated the majority of the promises he made during his run for the presidency?

Oh, and as for the "dig" about Trump gaining some supposed "monetary advantage" from being president...it has been estimated that it cost him something like two billion dollars to take time out from his businesses in order to help the nation as its President. And he gave his presidential salary ($400,000/year) back to the US Treasury, which to my recollection no other President in my lifetime did.

Our Canadian friends are only getting partial news from liberal media...I've been talking to some and am shocked that they are only hearing one side of things. They don't really know what's going on here except for what their liberal media want them to know.

Nope. It's one way communication only! Not that I ever would comment but still, the option should be there.

I hope @Albion is right and there is more to come and that this isn't all that he's going to offer for his new platform.

But you know what would happen if it were open to replies.

Trump's opponents would fill the space with insults and lies, and thus derail the page. And this is not merely hypothetical.

You have rules here on CH, and this site is not nearly as likely to experience the torrent of invective that would follow a website featuring President Trump's advice and commentary if it were open to replies.

Speaking for myself only, I am well informed by any standards and am sufficiently well educated and experienced to draw conclusions. In my travels in the USA I have found a few who were similarly well informed but sadly the majority of Americans seem to know little beyond their own state lines and sometimes even more locally than that. I can provide some rather amusing examples if you wish.

This is nothing about your intelligence. The media in both the US and Canada lean to the left, there is no neutral media anymore. I'm sure you've done your homework on that?

There are certainly "examples" of almost anything that happens in the course of human existence. How accurately they reflect the overall picture is the issue.

While there are many Americans who are not up to date on current events and some of them may even volunteer opinions about such things as politics, they don't seem to be the people who take to social media to explain their viewpoints about it. On the other hand, there seem to be more than a few people who are citizens or subjects of other nations who are only too eager to tell Americans that America stinks.

Why is that, do you think?

To be clear, I don't think that America sinks. Americans in general are a very hospitable people. If they sense that you do not share their opinion's, particularly political ones, they can turn on you. Canadians do tend to have strong opinions and generally are far better informed about the USA than Americans are about Canada and there is very good reason for that.

The late Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau said it well "Canada sharing a continent with the USA is a little like a mouse going to bed with an elephant. No matter how well intentioned the elephant, every twitch and fart profoundly affects the mouse.”

Maybe the mouse shouldn't be so despising of the elephant then?

I don't think he should have been silenced to begin with, Hillary went on and on and on and on for four years crying about the Russian Collusion but she wasn't silenced
