Sayyyy, about this NFL protesting situation...

Fans say they're through with the NFL, even though they've been big fans. But wouldn't it be better if there were a team--any team--that deserved your support instead of your usual franchise, now that the latter has gone bad? There is apparently only one team that didn't get into the defiance (except for one player who remained in the locker room), and that's the Carolina Panthers. A couple of others came close, but that's about all. In addition we do not know what this weekend will bring.

But the question is "Wouldn't it be a better response for outraged fans simply to switch allegiances rather than give up their favorite pasttime?"

The response should be that the NFL can the ones protesting, playing is a priviledge not a right but without the financial incentive to do so I doubt that they will

I doubt it too, but my thinking ran towards what the fans can do other than just give up watching NFL games altogether.

It's not an easy decision, since they could be upset with the NFL itself for allowing this sort of thing. In that case, there's not much wiggle room, but if it's the players they are disgusted with, maybe they could just switch their allegiance to another team.

I thought there was that possibility but I have read almost nothing about anyone suggesting that course of action.

I know, but if they're so mad now that they say they'll swear off watching altogether, I thought what I suggested might hold some appeal for them. I agree with you that under ordinary circumstances, it probably would not.

I couldn't help noticing on Sunday that one player (I don't recall who) was praying as he took a knee. Who knows the intent of these guys? It amazes me that the very freedoms supposedly fought for are only okay if done correctly.

IMO, constitutionally in the USA, Tim Tebow (and his followers) have a civil "right" to do as they did. I passionately disagree with them, and I'd be among those "booing" them, but yes - they have that "right." On the other hand, the football team has a "right" to fire them. The ONLY reason they are getting away with this is because the leftist press agrees with them and preaches they should be accepted. Consider if some player ran around the field with a Confederate flag. Would he have the constitutional civil right to do this? Just as much as Tim Tebow had. Ah, but THAT would irritate the _____ out of the leftist press, he would have been removed from the field by the police, jailed and with MUCH fanfare, fired by the team. Ah. This has nothing to do with "right", it has to do with what the leftist press desires to support and its ability to formulate public opinion. The guise that this has anything to do with "freedom of speech" and "civil rights" is laughably absurd. But it works.
