19 Jesus gave them this answer: “Very truly I tell you, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does. 20 For the Father loves the Son and shows him all he does. Yes, and he will show him even greater works than these, so that you will be amazed. John 5:19-20, NIV
This passage came up this morning in my group along with passages in Php 2 where it says that Jesus took on the form of a bond servant and became obedient to the point of death. Over 20 times in the gospel of John Jesus refers to himself as one who was sent or that the Father sent him. He goes on to say that he follows the Father's initiative and does what he sees the Father doing and speaks the Words the Father gives him to speak. I find it a great example of how we are to follow God and understand that God is always at work and that we are to join Him in his work.
How often we get in our own way by not being humble and being a servant like Jesus was. There is so much pride and selfish ambition in the church today that gets in the way of God doing a great work
