Jesus example prayer is all one needs. He pretty much said " our father who are in heaven" meant , acknowledge your God...."your will be done on earth as it is in heaveneant acknowledge his will.....and so forth. If you take time to think about what thaf prayer was declaring then you will I understand why he instructed you to pray on such manner. He said do not pray repeatedly or out loud like some folk. He said go in a closet and pray. I think because prayer is personal communication between you and the most high. Everyone's relationship with God is different , however Jesus prayer is universal and it applies to all.

No one is saying it's a requirement. I'm wondering why it's avoided in some churches since it's so perfect? Look at all the things it addresses in one spot.

I think it is avoided because a negative connotation that some non-Christians believe. Which is that Christians are brain washed, ignorant, and just do what they are told. The Lord's prayer has unfortunately has become an "example" of this "problem."

This of course isn't correct but I would like to say it is important to understand what the Lord's prayer is actually saying or you encourage this bias.

It must be too ritualistic for some but that's what I like about my church. And the Apostles creed too :)

The Lord's prayer is the best meditative prayer there is. It is more than memorized platitudes to God. This is a step by step process of taking our heart to His heart, change our perspective, change our attitude, change our heart, challenge all sins found within, and taking selfishness out of the equation. It is beautiful in its simplicity. It is empowering in its embrace. It is humbling. It is a blessing. And I am all for not only congregational Lord's prayer but also preachings on the details found within.

My impression is that it is avoided because Jesus warned against vain repetition. Most Baptist churches I have been in don't normally repeat it though they may teach it

It is, as long as the people praying it take the time to think about what they are praying. If people just switch off their brains and recite the words because "this is the bit where we say the Lord's Prayer" then the chances are they might as well be reciting their shopping list.
