Thankful for the Dead Sea Scrolls but what does their discovery truly mean as evidence ?

hello

As Christians can we believe the truth that the Hebrew manuscripts of the Old Testament are what God himself has preserved ?

as Jesus had explained to his Hebrew speaking people that neither a jot nor one tittle would pass away from the Law….

Jesus was never propagating a Greek Septuagint of the Old Testament, the Jot is a Hebrew letter, the Tittle is a small mark distinguishing Hebrew verbs. (third - person singular simple present… ect...

A Greek Septuagint would not have any jots nor any tittles
for Jesus to be vindicating.

What many people do not know is that 4 times the Roman Catholic Douay Rheims Translation deletes or removes the word Lord or Yahweh in the Old Testament and replaces it with the Greek word Christ

Here are the 4 times the word Christ is
inserted into the Old Testament
Lam 4:20 …… Christ the Lord, is taken in our sins...
2Sa 23:1 ….. Christ of the God of Jacob.
Psa 84:9 ….. look on the face of thy Christ.
Hab 3:13 ….. for salvation with thy Christ.

Again, the Roman Catholic Douay Rheims deletes or removes the word Anointed in the Old Testament and replaces it with the Greek word Christ

Here are the 4 other times the word Christ is inserted into the Old Testament

Psa 2:2 …..against the Lord, and against his Christ.
1Sa 2:10 ..... exalt the horn of his Christ
Dan 9:25 unto Christ, the prince
Dan 9:26 ….. Christ shall be slain

The Catholic Translation takes 8 select passages from the Old Testament that Catholics feel could be considered a prophetic future foretelling of Jesus and they remove the original words of " Lord " and " Anointing " and replace it with Christ

Catholics are correct and right -
to identify Christ - in the Old Testament - but this is not the way the Bible was transmitted in the original language – to take titles and names of the New Testament that were written in another language and make cuts and selected preferences of a few choice - personal doctrinal passages where these titles and names should be applied and where they would be left out –

Catholics have removed the original meaning and application in how the scripture was given, applied and
understood by the Jewish people and have inserted a future - event back inside the Old Testament, completely removing the way it was understood and what it means and says.

The original message of the Old Testament is written to keep hidden that Jesus the Son Of God would someday be manifested, the Old Testament Prophets and Saints of old knew absolutely nothing about the Son Of God nor of his future role in salvation.

Yes, he is mysteriously secretly concealed and hidden in the Old Testament

Col 1:26 Jesus Christ is a mystery which hath been hidden from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints:

Rom 16:25 Jesus Christ is a mystery, which was kept secret since the world began.

Does changing the word Lord into the word Christ in the Catholic Old Testament discredit and remove the way its prophecy was written to be as hidden and as concealed, to insert the idea that the Jews had discovered the Lord himself was the Christ before his arival ?

IN CONCLUSION

I mention this because the claim is made that for hundreds of years before the birth of Jesus was born the Jews used a Greek Septuagint of the Old Testament and if this truth the Greek word Christos would have been truly used to indicate the Anointed

but the truth is the Catholic Church took the word Anointed that is used 80 + times in the Old Testament and translated this word into Christos / Christ only 4 random times in their English translation but the other 76 + times they translated it as the English word Anointed

because there were no known manuscripts claimed to be Greek Septuagint until 1947

Carbon dating ink is not 100 % precise, and direct radiocarbon dating of historical ink is rarely done because inks are mineral-based and lack enough carbon, while carbon dating ink and organic material can be off by a few centuries

In fact, some of the Dead Sea Scroll parchments are proven to have been written after Christ and even then, carbon dating is not exact - it provides a statistical range of centuries.

The truth is that the Dead Sea Scrolls contain many fragments, some, that were produced during the First Jewish-Roman War, and these fragments could have been produced decades or a full - century after Jesus Christ

- and the evidence that is provided of all BC material is not from carbon dating = THE MAIN EVIDENCE GIVEN IS THE HANDWRITING STYLES - - SOMEONE WITH A DIFFERENT STYLE OF HANDWRITING CAN BE PROOF OF CATALOG AS 100 % PROOF FOR DATING MANUSCRIPTS.

BUT - WHAT IF THE WRITER WAS ATTEMPTING TO COPY A HANDWRITING STYLE ?
THEN THE PROOF IS A FALSE EVIDENCE.

The Jews were not aware of the coming of Jesus in any way and were not trying to produce Greek scripture to coincide and batch up with the prophecy fulfilled in a New Testament changing the word Lord into the word Christ as Catholics have done in their translation .

These prophetic meanings were kept secret, hidden and concealed by God himself until Jesus revealed them, not revelation found in a Greek Septuagint hundreds of years before.

The Greek Septuagint is a theory built entirely upon assumption and imagination without a single factual proof for evidence and the Roman Catholic Church attempts to insert Christ and replace Lord into the Old Testament as if the Old Testament expressed something that was kept secret and hidden by God himself. - to suggest that even the jews had previous Septuagint knowledge of what God himself had hidden.

Before 1947, the oldest complete Hebrew Bible was the Leningrad Codex (1008 CE).

The Scrolls changed everything.

They revealed hundreds of Hebrew manuscripts dating from the 3rd century BCE to the 1st century CE

that is truly amazing that we have Hebrew Scriptures of the Old Testament dating back to 1000 AD

I believe that these copies of ancient Hebrew manuscripts are the preserved word of God and truth. the sad part that breaks my heart is that only one biblical scroll from the Dead Sea Scroll material was found as a complete book -

—the Great Isaiah Scroll (1QIsaᵃ)—Isaiah is the only Book preserved in its entirety from beginning to end, believe to have been written as early as 125 AD and possibly even copied a few years after Jesus was born.

Carbon dating can be off by 200 years

the style of handwriting in how the author writes is the main method that experts use to date within a range of 200 years, the Dead Sea Scrolls could have possibly been written after Jesus was born.

As for the rest of the Old Testament in the Dead Sea Scrolls there are only tiny fragments or pieces of shards, thumb nail crumbs, tiny portions from every single book of the Hebrew (Old Testament) except for the Book of Esther,

all other biblical manuscripts survive only as fragments of partial texts, partial verses and as scattered book fragments.

Before 1000 AD there is not a full complete Old Testament Hebrew Bible nor a complete book of the Bible except for the Book Of Isaiah alone .

for the wonderful comment made by "
Lamb " i would agree as the Bible does make mention of a savior who will rise from the house of Israel, I was not trying to deny this this fact - all i was trying to do is - ask the question

my question was - is it truthful, right or good for the Roman Catholic Church to replace the word Hebrew word " Lord " with the Greek word " Christ " as they have done in their English translation.

removing original Hebrew words and altering them and changing them repeatedly, inserting and changing words into verses that were not revealed at that time and made completely clear in identifying the full plan of God in the original Old Testament ?

the main point is that 8 times the Roman Catholic Douay Rheims Translation deletes or removes the word Messiah in the Old Testament and replaces it with the Greek word Christ

Here are the 8 times the word Messiah is inserted into the Old Testament

Lam 4:20 …… Christ the Lord, is taken in our sins...
2Sa 23:1 ….. Christ of the God of Jacob.
Psa 84:9 ….. look on the face of thy Christ.
Hab 3:13 ….. for salvation with thy Christ.
Psa 2:2 …..against the Lord, and against his Christ.
1Sa 2:10 ..... exalt the horn of his Christ
Dan 9:25 unto Christ, the prince
Dan 9:26 ….. Christ shall be slain

8 select passages from the Old Testament that Catholics feel could be considered a prophetic future foretelling of Jesus and they remove the original word Messiah

The word Messiah is used 110 times in the Old Testament manuscripts but translated into Christos / Christ only 8 random times in the Catholic English translation, the other 102 times they translated it as the English words Anointed or Messiah

The Greek Septuagint however always translates the Hebrew word Messiah into Greek using the word Christ -

What the Dead Sea Scrolls Actually Prove

Here is a couple of the key points:

✔ The Dead Sea Scrolls confirm the antiquity of the Hebrew Bible.

The Scrolls contain Hebrew biblical manuscripts dating from 250 BC to 70 AD, over a thousand years older than the medieval Masoretic Text. This means we now possess Hebrew Scripture from the era of Jesus, the apostles, and the Second Temple period. People have claimed the Scrolls “could have been written after Jesus,” but even the latest Scrolls still predate the Masoretic tradition by centuries. Their existence proves that the Hebrew Bible used by ancient Jews was far older and far more diverse than previously known.

✔ They confirm the Septuagint’s accuracy in many places.

Some have claimed the Septuagint is “a theory built entirely upon assumption,” but the Scrolls contain Hebrew readings that match the Septuagint against the Masoretic Text. Examples include Deuteronomy 32:8, Psalm 22:16, Jeremiah’s shorter text, and many others. This shows the Septuagint was translated from real Hebrew manuscripts that actually existed — manuscripts now confirmed by archaeology. The Scrolls validate the Septuagint’s antiquity and accuracy, not undermine it.

✔ They show Jews used multiple textual traditions.

It's been assumed one single Hebrew text existed, but the Scrolls reveal three major Hebrew textual families: proto‑Masoretic, proto‑Septuagintal, and proto‑Samaritan, plus non‑aligned texts. This proves ancient Jews did not use one uniform Hebrew Bible. They used multiple traditions simultaneously. This destroys the idea that the Masoretic Text alone represents “the preserved word of God,” and it explains why the Septuagint sometimes differs — it reflects a different ancient Hebrew tradition.

✔ They show “Messiah” was a known concept long before Jesus.

People have thought “the prophets knew absolutely nothing about the Son of God,” but the Scrolls contain messianic expectations: a Davidic Messiah, a priestly Messiah, a prophetic Messiah, and an eschatological deliverer. The Qumran community wrote about “the Messiah of Aaron and Israel,” “the Branch of David,” and the coming “Son of God” (4Q246). This proves Jews were expecting a Messiah centuries before Jesus — exactly as the Old Testament teaches.

✔ They show “Christos” is simply the Greek translation of “Messiah.”

Several have argued: Catholics “insert Christ” into the Old Testament, but Christos is simply the Greek word for Messiah — used by Greek‑speaking Jews long before Christianity. The Septuagint consistently translates Mashiach as Christos. The New Testament does the same. The Douay‑Rheims did not invent this; they followed the ancient Jewish translation tradition. “Christ” is not a doctrinal insertion — it is the standard Greek equivalent of “Messiah.”

✔ They show the Masoretic Text is not the only preserved Hebrew tradition.

Previously,it was assumed: the Masoretic Text is the original Hebrew Bible, but the Scrolls show it is one tradition among several. In many places, the Masoretic Text preserves the older reading; in other places, the Septuagint preserves the older reading. The Scrolls prove that textual preservation occurred through multiple streams, not one. This is why modern Bibles use DSS, MT, LXX, SP, and other witnesses to reconstruct the earliest text.
✔They show: The Irony of MT‑Only = Medieval Catholic Textual Tradition
The irony is that MT‑only arguments actually align with medieval Catholic textual history, not with the apostles or the early church. The Western church standardized the proto‑Masoretic tradition when Latin replaced Greek and the Septuagint faded from use. The Dead Sea Scrolls show that Jesus’ world used multiple Hebrew traditions — not just the one the later Catholic Church inherited. So MT‑only is not “original Hebrew”; it’s medieval Latin Christianity.

✔ They show the OT did not hide the Messiah — it anticipated Him

It was believed: the OT “kept Jesus hidden,” but the Scrolls show the opposite: ancient Jews interpreted Scripture messianically. They expected a coming king, a suffering servant, a heavenly Son of Man, and a priestly redeemer. The OT does not hide Christ — it foreshadows Him. The Scrolls reveal how Jews before Jesus already saw messianic patterns in Isaiah, Psalms, Daniel, and the Prophets. The NT does not invent messianic interpretation; it continues it.

✔ How the Early Church Standardized One Hebrew Tradition

One more thing the Dead Sea Scrolls reveal — and this matters for later church history: After the time of Jesus, the early Catholic Church eventually standardized the proto‑Masoretic Hebrew tradition as the primary Old Testament text for the Western church. This wasn’t corruption — it was consolidation. But the Scrolls show that long before that standardization, Jews used multiple textual traditions: proto‑Masoretic, proto‑Septuagintal, proto‑Samaritan, and non‑aligned texts. The Catholic Church inherited only one of these streams. The Dead Sea Scrolls prove that the Western church did not preserve the full diversity of ancient Hebrew readings — not because of malice, but because of historical narrowing.
The Dead Sea Scrolls clarify the early church’s shift from Hebrew and Greek into Latin. When Jerome produced the Latin Vulgate, he relied almost entirely on the proto‑Masoretic Hebrew tradition — not because it was the only ancient text, but because it was the one available to him. As Latin became dominant in the Western church, the Septuagint and other Hebrew traditions faded from use. The DSS show that the Western church did not preserve the full ancient textual diversity simply because its linguistic world narrowed. The Scrolls reopen that world and confirm that multiple Hebrew traditions — not just the proto‑Masoretic — were ancient, authentic, and widely used.
The Scrolls reopen that diversity and confirm that the Septuagint and other traditions preserve readings just as ancient as the Masoretic Text.
This is why modern scholarship uses DSS + MT + LXX + SP together — not just one tradition.

✦ In Summary ✦

The Dead Sea Scrolls prove that the Hebrew Bible is ancient, diverse, and faithfully preserved across multiple textual traditions. They confirm the Septuagint’s legitimacy, reveal that “Messiah” was a known concept long before Jesus, show that “Christos” is simply the Greek translation of “Messiah,” and demonstrate that the DSS, MT, LXX, and SP Texts are not the only preserved Hebrew traditions. Far from hiding the Messiah, the Old Testament anticipated Him — and the Scrolls show that ancient Jews already recognized those messianic patterns.

The focus for me, personally, is upon the truth regarding all things,

this particular subject that deals with the Dead Sea Scrolls is to present full evidence that the
Greek Septuagint is truly a fraud without a single shred of evidence of its existence before Jesus Christ ..

The truth is that the Roman Catholic Church does not posses nor did it preserve any manuscripts whatsoever of the Masoretic
Hebrew Text - yet, its own Latin Vulgate and English Douay Rheims translations are both claimed as translated from the Masoretic Hebrew Text

yet, the only manuscripts that The Catholic Church has possesses for the Old Testament is Greek Codex Vaticanus

The Vatican holds
Codex Vaticanus as one of its most prized historical biblical manuscripts and a primary witness to the text of the Septuagint, but yet the Vatican claims that the Latin Vulgate is based directly upon a translation of the Hebrew Masoretic Text- yet, the Vatican only has preserved and made copies of the Greek alone

and has no
Hebrew texts, disregarding everything in Hebrew regarding manuscripts for the last 1000 years

there are very major differences between the
Hebrew Masoretic Text and Codex Vaticanus

Numbers and Chronology: different lengths of lifespans.
Certain books of the Hebrew Torah are noticeably different in size.
Missing or Added Verses between the two

Codex Alexandrinus— specifically changes the " Sons of God " to say " the angels of God" but the Codex Vaticanus does not - - -

Codex Vaticanus leaves the term as " Sons of God " again contradicting the Septuagint.

the conflict and contradictions is the fact that the Catholic Church promotes a deceptive message
becasue - .....as the Catholic Church proclaims the the Codex Vaticanus as a prized manuscripts and primary witness to the text of the Septuagint but the truth is that this Vaticanus manuscript actually agrees more with with the Hebrew Masoretic Text in Numbers and Chronology

BUT THE VATICAN USES THE MISSING VERSES OF
CODEX VATICANUS AS SOLID PROOF FOR ITS CONNECTION TO THE SEPTUAGINT

WHILE YET ITS CONTENT AGREES MORE WITH THE HEBREW MASORETIC TEXT

and because the Greek language is used in both
Codex Vaticanus and the Septuagint the Catholic Church points to this as proof for the evidence of the Septuagint - as evidence and proof.

We see that the Catholic Church has always promoted the Apocrypha as a part of its Bible translations and uses this fact to also point to proof of the
Septuagint

- simply based on the foolish fact that
Hebrew Masoretic Text does not include the Apocrypha -

the Catholic Church points to this fact as proof that it was a part of the Greek

this is all circular reasoning

.the real answer to the question is

# 1. If the Apocrypha was not added into the Codex Vaticanus in the 4th to 6th century, possibly 600 years after Jesus Christ, the Vatican would not have a validation to promote it as a Septuagint manuscript ?

400 - 600 years after Jesus Christ the Apocrypha was added into a complete Greek book

before this, the Apocrypha was nothing more than scattered, independent books, -
IN FACT - before being added and compiled into { Codex Sinaiticus and Codex Vaticanus } , the books of the Apocrypha existed as individual, independent literary scrolls rather than a unified, bound collection, they circulated loosely across the Mediterranean world and then were later collected and put together 400 - 600 years after Jesus Christ ?

- Apocrypha was never included within the rest of any Greek or Hebrew Bible -
- Apocrypha never
even gathered together themselves in a
circulated book or scroll !

until 400 - 600 years after Jesus Christ

and

# 2. Does the evidence pointing to similarity between the style of Greek for the Codex Vaticanus and the Dead Sea Scrolls truly prove that a Septuagint existed before Jesus Christ,

could not this be a argument completely
against the Septuagint as the Codex Vaticanus was not copied or written until the 4th to 6th century and the same Style of Greek would have been used for both.

the truth is that the Dead Sea Scrolls contain Greek texts make up a small minority (roughly
3%) of the overall Dead Sea Scrolls collection.

and these Dead Sea Scrolls do not even account for even 0.1% of the Septuagint

the truth is that the first five books of the Torah are all that were supposedly translated as Septuagint - yet the Vatican promotes the entire Old Testament plus + the Apocrypha as the real Septuagint that was not made into a complete book until 400 - 600 years after Jesus Christ.

is this real evidence or rather imagination and fantasy ?

The Dead Sea Scrolls contain Hebrew
“The Dead Sea Scrolls contain Hebrew readings that match the Septuagint against the Masoretic Text — which proves the LXX was translated from real Hebrew manuscripts that existed long before Jesus. This isn’t Vatican history, it’s archaeology. The DSS predate Codex Vaticanus by 400–600 years, and they confirm multiple Hebrew traditions: proto‑Masoretic, proto‑Septuagintal, proto‑Samaritan, and non‑aligned. That’s why modern scholarship uses DSS + MT + LXX together. The existence of these Hebrew variants is the evidence — not later codices.”

why or how could you validate this claim to say that the LXX was translated from real Hebrew manuscripts

if the fact is that the Greek Old Testament shards, fragments, thumbnails and crumbs found in the Dead Sea Scrolls only make up less than 3 % of all material contained within the entirety of all the Dead Sea Scroll materials combined .

and these 3 % do not even account for 00000.1 % of the Old Testament -

could you explain how it is possible to take 00000.1 % of Scattered, Random Unsystematic shards, fragments, thumbnails and crumbs for a Non - Existent document and even determine that there was even a single complete page or even a full chapter that had been completed before Christ ?

validate this claim
✦ The Evidence Is in the Variants ✦
The size of the Greek fragments in the Dead Sea Scrolls has nothing to do with whether the Septuagint existed. Textual criticism doesn’t work by “percentage of surviving material,” because ancient manuscripts survive unevenly. What matters is the readings, not the quantity. And the Hebrew fragments at Qumran contain specific Hebrew variants that match the Septuagint against the Masoretic Text — word for word, line for line — in places like Deuteronomy 32:8, Psalm 22:16, Jeremiah’s shorter text, and others. Those Hebrew variants prove that the Septuagint was translated from real Hebrew manuscripts that existed centuries before Christ. You don’t need a full page or full chapter to confirm a textual tradition; you only need matching readings. Archaeology doesn’t reconstruct ancient texts by volume — it reconstructs them by alignment of readings across witnesses. The DSS give us those readings, and those readings match the LXX. That’s the evidence.
✦ The Wider Historical Witness to Pre‑Christian Greek Scripture ✦

Beyond the Dead Sea Scrolls, the broader archaeological record also confirms that the Septuagint was already in circulation long before the time of Christ. The Letter of Aristeas (2nd century BCE) describes the translation of the Torah into Greek for the Jewish community in Alexandria, and while not every detail is literal history, its existence shows that Jews themselves understood the Greek Torah to be ancient. Philo of Alexandria (1st century BCE–1st century CE) quotes the Greek Torah extensively, treating it as authoritative Scripture. Josephus (1st century CE) likewise references Greek biblical traditions familiar to his audience. And most importantly, early Jewish inscriptions, papyri, and quotations from Hellenistic synagogues show that Greek Scripture was widely used in the diaspora centuries before Jesus. These independent witnesses — Jewish, not Christian — demonstrate that Greek translations of Hebrew Scripture were already established, circulated, and revered long before the New Testament era. The DSS variants simply confirm the Hebrew base texts those translators used.
✦ The Major Codices as Preservers of an Older Greek Tradition ✦
In addition to the Dead Sea Scrolls and the Hebrew variants they preserve, the major codices themselves — including Codex Vaticanus, Codex Sinaiticus, and Codex Alexandrinus — demonstrate that the Septuagint was already a fully established textual tradition long before these manuscripts were copied. These codices are not “late inventions”; they are fourth–fifth‑century witnesses preserving a much older Greek textual stream. Their internal consistency, shared readings, and alignment with pre‑Christian Jewish quotations show that they were copying from earlier exemplars, not creating new texts. Even more importantly, many of the unique readings found in these codices match the Hebrew variants discovered at Qumran, proving that the Greek tradition they preserve goes back to Hebrew manuscripts that existed centuries before Christ. The codices are simply the largest surviving containers of a textual tradition that was already ancient by the time they were written.
✦ The Masoretic Text in the Larger Hebrew Textual Landscape ✦
The Masoretic Text itself is a remarkable and highly refined Hebrew tradition, but it represents the final stage of a much longer textual history. The Masoretes (7th–10th century AD) standardized spelling, vocalization, and marginal notes, preserving a stable Hebrew text for synagogue use. But even Jewish scholars acknowledge that the Masoretic Text reflects one particular textual stream — the proto‑Masoretic tradition — which existed alongside other Hebrew traditions in the Second Temple period. The Dead Sea Scrolls confirm this: some manuscripts match the later Masoretic Text closely, while others align with the Hebrew base behind the Septuagint, and still others reflect independent or mixed traditions. This shows that before the Masoretic Text was finalized, multiple Hebrew textual families were in circulation. The Masoretic Text is an essential witness, but it is not the only one — and the DSS demonstrate that the Septuagint’s Hebrew source was one of those earlier families.

✦ Summary: A Unified Witness to the Septuagint’s Ancient Hebrew Sources ✦

Taken together, the textual, archaeological, and historical evidence forms a coherent picture: the Septuagint was not a late invention, nor a product of scattered Greek fragments, but a translation rooted in real Hebrew manuscripts circulating centuries before Christ. The Dead Sea Scrolls provide Hebrew variants that align directly with Septuagint readings, demonstrating that multiple Hebrew textual families existed in the Second Temple period — including the proto‑Masoretic tradition and the Hebrew base behind the LXX. Broader Jewish history confirms this: Greek Scripture was already in widespread use among diaspora Jews, referenced by Aristeas, quoted authoritatively by Philo, and familiar to Josephus and Hellenistic synagogues long before the New Testament era. The great codices later preserved this older Greek tradition, copying from exemplars that pre‑date them by centuries. And the Masoretic Text, though a refined and essential witness, represents the final standardized form of one textual stream among several that once existed. When all these witnesses are placed side by side — variants, scrolls, codices, inscriptions, and historical usage — they converge on the same conclusion: the Septuagint stands on an ancient Hebrew foundation, preserved across multiple lines of transmission and confirmed by the very manuscripts discovered at Qumran.

What matters is the readings, not the quantity. And the Hebrew

the reality that there are not even 00000.1 % of fragments to account for a Greek Old Testament

how can someone continue to pretend that Greek documents manufactured and written between 300 - 600 + Ad are real evidence and factual proof that even 1 single book of the Old Testament existed in Greek before Jesus

in fact - the 00000.1 % of the Greek fragments of the Old Testament themselves - possibly could have been scribed after Jesus Christ, there is no way to verify their exact date in a precise way because they are not a real - time, live historical record

meaning = nothing in the Dead Sea Scrolls indicate an exact date for when they were produced

in fact , the entire collection of the Dead Sea Scrolls spans a chronological range of roughly 300 to 400 years, there is nothing carbon dating can do to pinpoint an exact century

nothing whatsoever proves that any of the Dead Sea Scrolls were produced before Jesus Christ, the Dead Sea Scrolls do not contain an explicit, written statement or stamp declaring

"we were written before Christ "

and - nothing contained in the details of the writings indicate their production date.

what are the methods of dating ?

1. with carbon dating there is a 300 to 400 year range - this dating could extend up to 100 years after Christ

* this is not factual proof or real truthful evidence that there was a completed BC Greek Old Testament !

2. with the style of writing - they seem to indicate similar styles within this 300 to 400 year range

* this is not factual proof or real truthful evidence that there was a completed BC Greek Old Testament !

3.
Jerome lived with the reality that a Septuagint text did not exist in his day.

in fact Jerome did not have Greek manuscripts available to translate his Latin Vulgate, he had to use the Hebrew Masoretic Manuscripts

* showing that even 400 years after Christ there still was no Septuagint

in conclusion, please consider the lack of detail that you allow for your following claim

“Christos” is simply the Greek translation of “Messiah.”

“Christ” is not a doctrinal insertion — it is the standard Greek equivalent of “Messiah.”

You fail to mention that -

No Greek fragments of the Old Testament found among the Dead Sea Scrolls contain the specific word Christos

the 00000.1 % of the Greek fragments of the Dead Sea Scrolls do not even compose even a single chapter of the Old Testament, and these fragments say nothing within them about the Anointing,

they are just thumbnail pieces, slivers and crumbs of partial words, broken random partial sentences that seem to match the similar Greek styles written 300 - 600 + years after Christ.

- none of them mention Christos

Christos does not appear until 300 - 600 + years after Christ for any Old Testament Greek writings

________________________

the fact is " FROM THE DEAD SEA SCROLLS "

The Anointed One is found used in the Hebrew language as - (meshīḥē): - no Greek mentions Jesus or a messiah from the Dead Sea Scrolls

please consider the reality and understand the full completion of what I am trying to say

I appreciate and do understand what you are saying, and am so grateful to have opportunity to discuss this with you but all taken together, the evidence shows what it shows,

Christos does not appear until 300 - 600 + years after Christ for any Old Testament Greek writings

and even 300 - 600 + years after Christ there still was not enough Greek material of the Old Testament to complete a solid verifiable Greek production, there were so many variants and errors and contradictions between all of the Greek texts that were all incomplete and all missing so much

that it took until the
1400s for the different Greek manuscripts to be completed after the Masoretic texts finally were made.

the very first complete Septuagint that we see today exactly as it is in its completed form was not produced until 1808 - by Charles Thomson

before this, there was no complete Septuagint in the exact form that we see as todays Septuagint - this book did not exist until 1808

Charles Thomson used the 1587 Roman Catholic (Vatican) edition of the Septuagint that was incomplete and missing books and chapters. !

the 1587 Roman (Vatican) edition of the Septuagint also did have Methuselah living after the flood

but the Codex Vaticanus that Charles Thomson used to fill in his missing portions uses the Masoretic Text account of the flood and the Masoretic Text historical timeline.

the Septuagint that we see today exactly as it is - is a scrambled collection mixture of different manuscripts that declare that the other is error,

portions are taken from one manuscript that contradicts another manuscript that contradicts genealogies, lifespans, the age of the earth, the people surviving the flood, contradicting the size of giants, contradicting angels as sons of God and contradicting the size of chapters both shorter and longer—as well as differently arranged from other manuscripts

all meshed and mixed together from contradicting manuscripts families being independently, separately manufactured from different locations from 300 - 1400 Ad.

if its not the Masoretic Text - it must be real

Charles Thomson is the true author of the Septuagint we see today,

⭐ 1. Radiocarbon dating does place many scrolls centuries before Christ

✔ Isaiah Scroll

200 BCE – 1 CE (Libby, 1963)

✔ Linen from Qumran Cave 1

167 BCE – 233 CE (Zurich test)

✔ Date palm wood from Qumran

70 BCE – 90 CE (Zeuner)
They are tight, pre‑Christian dates with 95% confidence.

⭐ 2. AI + radiocarbon dating (2025 research)

The newest research (2025) uses:
  • radiocarbon dating
  • handwriting geometry
  • Bayesian regression
  • AI model “Enoch”
This study concluded:
Many Dead Sea Scrolls are older than previously assumed. Some fragments date to the lifetime of their presumed biblical authors.

✔ The Dead Sea Scrolls were overwhelmingly Hebrew

✔ The existence of Hebrew manuscripts matches Septuagint readings

Jerome compared:

  • Greek OT manuscripts
  • Hebrew manuscripts
  • Origen’s Hexapla
  • Earlier Greek recensions
Thomson translated an existing Greek OT into English.
  • Codex Vaticanus (4th century) contains most of the Greek OT
  • Codex Sinaiticus (4th century) contains the entire Greek OT
  • Codex Alexandrinus (5th century) contains the Greek OT
  • Origen’s Hexapla (3rd century) contains the Greek OT in six columns
  • Jewish communities used the Greek OT before Christ
  • Early Christians quoted the Greek OT extensively in the 1st century
Christos does appear:
  • The Septuagint uses Christos (χριστός) in pre‑Christian manuscripts.
  • The term appears in Greek Jewish literature before Christ.
  • The NT authors quote OT passages using Christos because the Greek OT already existed.
radiocarbon dating:
  • 408–203 BCE (Wadi Daliyeh)
  • 200 BCE – 1 CE (Isaiah Scroll)
  • 167 BCE – 233 CE (Qumran linen)
  • 70 BCE – 90 CE (date palm wood)
AI dating (2025):
  • some scrolls date to the lifetime of their biblical authors
  • many scrolls are older than previously assumed
The Dead Sea Scrolls prove:
  • Hebrew manuscripts behind the Septuagint existed before Christ
  • The Septuagint is based on real pre‑Christian Hebrew texts
  • The Greek OT is not a medieval invention
  • “Christos” is not a later Catholic insertion
  • The textual world before Christ was diverse, ancient, and real

Study: Manuscripts, History, and the Lord’s Hand in Real-world Results

We’ll walk through major manuscript streams and show:
  • how each arose in history,
  • how many people were touched through them,
  • what concrete benefits came,
  • and how, in every case, the Lord used imperfect human means to deliver perfect, life‑changing truth'

The Astounding Details Brought to Light

When we step back and look at the entire manuscript story — Hebrew scrolls preserved through exile, Greek translations carried across empires, Dead Sea Scrolls hidden for two millennia, New Testament letters multiplied across continents, Latin manuscripts sustaining faith through dark ages, Reformation Bibles igniting revival, and modern critical editions refining accuracy with scientific precision — the sheer scale of preservation is staggering. No human institution could have orchestrated this. No empire could have protected it. No single scribe could have ensured it. Yet across wars, fires, persecutions, migrations, political upheavals, and the rise and fall of civilizations, the Word of God kept moving forward — always surviving, always resurfacing, always speaking, always transforming lives. Every manuscript stream touched millions: shaping Israel’s identity, preparing the world for Christ, empowering the apostles, sustaining the early church, reforming nations, and reaching the ends of the earth. The Dead Sea Scrolls alone strengthened the faith of an entire generation by proving that Scripture was ancient, stable, and cherished long before Christ. The Septuagint opened the door for the gospel to explode across the Greek-speaking world. The Masoretic tradition preserved the Hebrew Scriptures with unmatched precision. The New Testament manuscripts carried the message of Jesus to billions. And modern translations continue to bring the Word into every language under heaven. When you trace the evidence honestly, you see one thing clearly: the Lord Himself has guarded His Word with a faithfulness no human system could ever match. The manuscripts are many, the scribes are many, the languages are many, the centuries are many — but the Author is one. And the real-world results, the changed lives, the healed hearts, the redeemed nations, and the unstoppable spread of the gospel are the kind of fruit only the inspired Word of God could produce.

1. The Hebrew Scriptures (Proto‑MT, MT, and related traditions)

Historical stream:
  • Early Hebrew scrolls (pre‑exilic and post‑exilic) copied by priests and scribes.
  • Later stabilized into what we call the Masoretic Text (MT) through meticulous work (vowel pointing, marginal notes, counting letters).
People affected:
  • Israel’s entire worship life: temple, synagogue, festivals, law courts, family life.
  • Prophets, kings, and common people all lived under the hearing of these texts.
Benefits accomplished:
  • Identity: Israel knew who they were—chosen, covenant people.
  • Morality: The Law shaped justice, mercy, and social ethics.
  • Hope: The Prophets gave promises of Messiah, restoration, and new covenant.
The Lord’s power: Only God could preserve a people through exile, dispersion, persecution, and still keep His Word central to their life. The Hebrew manuscripts are not just ink on parchment—they are the record of God refusing to let His voice be silenced.
Across centuries of exile, wandering, rebuilding, and persecution, the Hebrew Scriptures became the heartbeat of Israel’s identity. Every scroll copied by priests, every psalm sung in the temple, every prophetic warning, every covenant promise preserved through fragile parchment reveals a God who refused to let His voice be lost. These manuscripts shaped kings, guided prophets, corrected nations, and comforted the broken. They carried the hope of Messiah through generations. No human effort could have preserved them through Babylon, Persia, Greece, and Rome — yet the Word endured, proving that the Lord Himself was guarding His revelation so His people would never be without light.

2. The Septuagint (Greek Old Testament)

Historical stream:
  • Translated in stages (3rd–1st century BCE) for Greek‑speaking Jews in Alexandria and beyond.
  • Became the “Bible” of many Jews in the diaspora and later of the early church.
People affected:
  • Greek‑speaking Jews before Christ.
  • The apostles and early Christians, who quoted it extensively.
  • Millions of believers across the Greek‑speaking Mediterranean.
Benefits accomplished:
  • Accessibility: God’s Word crossed a language barrier—from Hebrew into the lingua franca of the ancient world.
  • Mission: It prepared the way for the gospel to spread rapidly; when Paul preached, many already knew the Scriptures in Greek.
  • Christological clarity: Messianic prophecies in Greek helped the early church see Jesus as the fulfillment of the Law and Prophets.
The Lord’s power: Only the Lord could orchestrate a translation centuries before Christ that would become the bridge for the gospel to reach nations. The Septuagint is a testimony that God thinks ahead—far ahead.
When the Hebrew Scriptures crossed into Greek, the Lord opened a door no empire could close. The Septuagint became the Bible of millions of Jews scattered across the Mediterranean, preparing the world for Christ long before Bethlehem. It gave the apostles a Scripture already translated into the language of nations, allowing the gospel to explode across the Roman world with supernatural speed. Every synagogue that read the Greek Scriptures, every Gentile who heard the prophets in his own tongue, every early Christian who recognized Jesus in Isaiah or the Psalms — all testify to a God who ensures His Word reaches every heart. The Septuagint is not merely a translation; it is divine strategy.

3. The Dead Sea Scrolls (Qumran and related sites)

Historical stream:
  • Scrolls and fragments stored by a Jewish sect (likely Essenes) between roughly 3rd century BCE and 1st century CE.
  • Rediscovered in the 20th century, transforming our understanding of Second Temple Judaism and biblical transmission.
People affected:
  • Scholars, pastors, and lay believers worldwide.
  • Every modern Bible reader who benefits from improved textual confidence.
Benefits accomplished:
  • Textual confirmation: They show that many biblical books existed in forms very close to our current texts centuries before Christ.
  • Variant awareness: They reveal that God’s Word circulated in multiple textual traditions—yet the core message remained intact.
  • Faith strengthening: They demonstrate that Scripture was not invented later; it was cherished, copied, and preserved long before.
The Lord’s power: Only God could hide scrolls in caves for nearly 2,000 years, then bring them to light in an age of science, so that believers could see His faithfulness in preserving His Word across millennia.
Hidden in desert caves for nearly two thousand years, the Dead Sea Scrolls resurfaced at the exact moment modern skepticism reached its peak. Their discovery shattered the myth that Scripture was late, corrupted, or invented. Instead, they revealed ancient Hebrew manuscripts astonishingly close to the texts we read today — preserved through time by a God who hides truth until the world is ready to receive it. These scrolls strengthened faith, silenced critics, and showed that long before Christ, God’s people cherished His Word with devotion and precision. The Dead Sea Scrolls are not an accident of archaeology; they are a miracle of providence.

4. The New Testament manuscripts

Historical stream:
  • Written in the 1st century (Gospels, letters, Apocalypse).
  • Copied, shared, and circulated across the Roman Empire.
  • Preserved in thousands of Greek manuscripts, plus early translations (Latin, Syriac, Coptic, etc.).
People affected:
  • The entire Christian church from the 1st century to now.
  • Billions of believers who have heard the words of Jesus, Paul, Peter, John, and others.
Benefits accomplished:
  • Salvation clarity: The life, death, and resurrection of Jesus recorded and proclaimed.
  • Church formation: Instructions for worship, leadership, discipline, and mission.
  • Global mission: The Great Commission, the gospel of grace, and the hope of resurrection spread to every continent.
The Lord’s power: Only God could take fragile papyrus letters and turn them into a world‑shaping canon. The NT manuscripts show that the Lord not only speaks—He ensures His words are heard in every generation.
From fragile papyrus letters carried by hand across the Roman Empire to thousands of manuscripts copied in monasteries, churches, and homes, the New Testament spread with unstoppable force. Billions have heard the words of Jesus because ordinary believers — fishermen, merchants, monks, mothers, soldiers — preserved them with love and sacrifice. These manuscripts fueled revivals, toppled idols, healed nations, and brought salvation to every continent. No empire could silence them. No persecution could erase them. The Lord Himself ensured that the story of His Son — His life, His cross, His resurrection — would echo through every generation until the end of the age.

5. The Latin Vulgate (Jerome)

Historical stream:
  • Jerome translated the Bible into Latin (late 4th century), using Hebrew and Greek sources.
  • Became the standard Bible of Western Christianity for over 1,000 years.
People affected:
  • Medieval Europe: monks, priests, scholars, rulers, and common people (through liturgy and preaching).
  • Reformers, who studied it and then returned to the original languages.
Benefits accomplished:
  • Stability: Provided a unified text for Western Christendom.
  • Preservation: Kept Scripture central in liturgy, theology, and art.
  • Bridge to Reformation: Its strengths and weaknesses pushed scholars back to Hebrew and Greek, sparking renewed textual study.
The Lord’s power: Only God could use a single translation to sustain the church’s memory of Scripture through dark ages, political upheavals, and spiritual decline—and then use that same tradition to ignite reform.
For over a thousand years, the Latin Vulgate carried the Word of God through the darkest and brightest chapters of Western history. It shaped cathedrals, universities, laws, hymns, and liturgy. It preserved Scripture when Europe was fractured by war, famine, and political chaos. And even when its limitations became clear, the Lord used it to drive scholars back to Hebrew and Greek, sparking the Reformation and renewing the church’s devotion to truth. The Vulgate is proof that God can use imperfect vessels to accomplish perfect purposes — sustaining His Word through centuries when human institutions faltered.

6. The Reformation-era vernacular Bibles (Luther, Tyndale, Geneva, etc.)

Historical stream:
  • Translations into German, English, French, and other languages from Hebrew and Greek.
  • Printed and distributed widely thanks to the printing press.
People affected:
  • Ordinary believers who, for the first time, could read Scripture in their own language.
  • Nations whose cultures were reshaped by biblical literacy.
Benefits accomplished:
  • Personal access: People no longer depended solely on clergy; they could encounter God’s Word directly.
  • Doctrinal reform: Justification by faith, priesthood of all believers, and other truths were rediscovered.
  • Social transformation: Laws, education, and ethics were influenced by Scripture.
The Lord’s power: Only God could turn ink and paper into spiritual dynamite. Vernacular Bibles broke chains of ignorance and superstition, not because translators were perfect, but because the Lord honored His promise:
“My word… shall not return to Me void.”
When Scripture broke free from Latin and entered the languages of the people, the world changed. Luther’s German Bible, Tyndale’s English New Testament, the Geneva Bible, and countless others brought the voice of God into homes, marketplaces, and hearts. These translations ignited revival, birthed nations, reformed churches, and empowered ordinary believers to read the Word for themselves. Chains of ignorance snapped. The gospel of grace was rediscovered. And the Lord proved once again that His Word is not bound. The Reformation Bibles are monuments to divine liberation — God giving His truth back to His people.

7. Modern critical editions and translations

Historical stream:
  • Scholars collate thousands of manuscripts, compare variants, and produce critical editions (e.g., BHS, NA28, UBS).
  • Translations into hundreds of languages, using the best available textual data.
People affected:
  • Pastors, teachers, missionaries, and lay readers worldwide.
  • Communities receiving Scripture in their heart language for the first time.
Benefits accomplished:
  • Textual clarity: We can see where manuscripts differ and why, without fear.
  • Global reach: The Bible is now available in thousands of languages.
  • Mission support: Scripture undergirds evangelism, discipleship, and church planting everywhere.
The Lord’s power: Only God could oversee centuries of copying, discovery, scholarship, and translation to give this generation unprecedented access to His Word. The complexity of the manuscript tradition doesn’t weaken faith—it showcases divine providence working through human frailty.
Today, with thousands of manuscripts, scientific dating, linguistic analysis, and global translation efforts, the Lord has given this generation unprecedented access to His Word. Every critical edition, every translation, every linguistic breakthrough is another testimony that God is still speaking, still preserving, still guiding His church. Scripture now reaches tribes, villages, cities, and nations in their heart language. Pastors preach with confidence. Scholars study with clarity. Believers read with joy. The modern textual tradition is not a human triumph — it is the culmination of divine faithfulness across millennia, proving that the Word of God is living, enduring, and unstoppable.

8. The multitudes and the real results

Across all these streams:
  • Millions have repented.
  • Millions have been comforted in grief.
  • Millions have been freed from fear and guilt.
  • Millions have been called into mission.
  • Laws have changed.
  • Slaves have been freed.
  • Hospitals and schools have been built.
  • Wars have been challenged.
  • Families have been restored.
No human philosophy, no purely human book, has produced this kind of sustained, global, multi‑century fruit.
This is what makes the manuscript story more than academic:
The same Lord who inspired His Word also guarded its transmission and empowered its impact;

The Multitudes and the Real Results

When we trace the impact of Scripture across history, the sheer number of lives transformed is beyond calculation. From ancient Israel to the early church, from medieval monasteries to Reformation cities, from missionary movements to modern global Christianity, the Word of God has shaped billions. It has crossed deserts, oceans, empires, languages, and centuries — healing the broken, confronting the proud, comforting the grieving, liberating the oppressed, and calling sinners to repentance. It has inspired hospitals, universities, orphanages, abolition movements, revivals, and reformations. No human philosophy has produced such fruit. No political system has endured so long. No literary work has reshaped so many cultures. The manuscripts are fragile, but the results are eternal. And behind every scroll, codex, translation, and edition stands the Lord Himself — guiding, preserving, empowering, and ensuring that His Word accomplishes exactly what He sent it to do. The multitudes changed by Scripture are the living proof that the Bible is not merely ancient literature; it is the living voice of the living God.

9. Lifting up the Lord in every manuscript stream

  • In Hebrew scrolls, we see a God who enters history and binds Himself to a people.
  • In the Septuagint, we see a God who crosses languages to reach the nations.
  • In the Dead Sea Scrolls, we see a God who hides and reveals at the right time.
  • In the NT manuscripts, we see a God who records His own incarnation and resurrection.
  • In the Vulgate, we see a God who sustains memory through long centuries.
  • In Reformation Bibles, we see a God who breaks chains and restores the gospel.
  • In modern editions, we see a God who uses scholarship to serve faith, not replace it.
The manuscripts are many. The scribes are many. The languages are many. The centuries are many.
But the Author is one.
And the real results—changed lives, healed hearts, transformed societies—are the kind of fruit only the inspired Word of God, wielded by the Spirit of God, could ever produce.
“The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God stands forever.”

Lifting Up the Lord in Every Manuscript Stream

When we examine the Hebrew scrolls, the Septuagint, the Dead Sea Scrolls, the New Testament manuscripts, the Vulgate, the Reformation Bibles, and modern translations, a single truth rises above all others: the Lord has been the Author, the Guardian, and the Deliverer of His Word in every generation. He preserved His promises through exile, carried His prophecies into Greek so the nations could hear, hid scrolls in caves until the modern world needed them, multiplied New Testament manuscripts across continents, sustained Scripture through the Vulgate, unleashed revival through vernacular Bibles, and now spreads His Word to the ends of the earth through modern translations. Every manuscript tradition — no matter how human, fragile, or imperfect — reveals divine faithfulness. The Lord used scribes, translators, monks, scholars, missionaries, and ordinary believers to carry His Word forward, proving that He is not only the God who speaks, but the God who preserves what He speaks. The manuscripts show the labor of humans; the results show the sovereignty of God.

⭐FULL SUMMARY — The Lord’s Hand Across the Manuscript Story

When all nine sections are taken together, the manuscript story becomes a single, breathtaking testimony to the faithfulness of God. The Hebrew Scriptures reveal a God who binds Himself to His people and preserves His promises through exile and empire. The Septuagint reveals a God who prepares the nations for Christ centuries before Bethlehem. The Dead Sea Scrolls reveal a God who hides truth until the world is ready to receive it. The New Testament manuscripts reveal a God who ensures the story of His Son reaches every generation. The Vulgate reveals a God who sustains Scripture through long centuries of turmoil. The Reformation Bibles reveal a God who liberates His Word for the common people. Modern translations reveal a God who uses scholarship and technology to bring His voice to every tribe and tongue. And the multitudes changed by Scripture reveal a God whose Word is living, active, and unstoppable. The manuscripts are many, the scribes are many, the languages are many, the centuries are many — but the Author is one. And the fruit of His Word across history is the kind of fruit only the inspired Word of God could produce.
This is the story of Scripture. This is the story of providence. This is the story of the Lord who speaks — and the world that is changed forever when He does.
