I hate that it takes years for construction projects now! We had a bridge that was under construction for years and you rarely saw the guys working.
We have one of those going on here too. Started in 2016 and who knows when completion will happen. So many issues in the process.

I guess they have to keep the companies that make plastic cones in business somehow.

Had hoped to get out for a run today but it's raining and forecast to rain on and off for most of the day, with thunderstorms possible later. I don't really feel like running in the rain so I'll probably end up walking laps of the fellowship hall at church again. It's been a while since I last did that.

Every time we travel back to the state where we used to live I see construction and the parts that were just fixed the previous year were already ruined. I know the weather gets bad but you can see that they only do enough until they can get back to it to work on it again. Job Security.

I'm pet sitting today and the next few days..my daughter's dog and guinea pig!

I remember the days when fixing a pothole in the road was a more major job than it is now. Now there are machines that do little more than dump a scoop of material into the hole and smooth it over. Which is great in that they can be fixed quickly but the fixes don't last. Usually what happens is that within a few months the new material is coming apart and the edges are worse than they were before.

From the perspective of a four-wheeled vehicle it's not so much of a problem but it makes the roads ever-more treacherous for motorcyclists and even more so for cyclists. A guy who used to attend a youth club I helped lead successfully sued his local council because he hit a pothole on his bicycle, flew over the handlebars and broke both his arms as he landed. Knowing the road where it happened he's lucky he didn't get hit by a car as he lay in the road.

Took another 1.5 mile walk. I am beginning to think summer has arrived here in these parts. Otherwise, I have been rather lazy.

Got my sewing machine out and have slowly working on a quilt banner. On top of that, I realized I have been winding the bobbin wrong. No wonder it gets messed up! Need to thread it correctly from now on. That's what happens when you haven't used your machine much the last 3 years.

I am probably doing mine wrong too LOL But I try to get it done too quickly and don't really pay attention.

Happy weekend all! How are you? Today, I've just had leftover pizza with lemon iced tea for lunch. Tonight, just playing some games on my phone before hitting the pillow.

Spent some more time today chasing our new foster daughter around. She has lots of energy and loves to run around playing some kind of ball game. She's only been with us two days so hasn't had chance to make friends her own age so I get to play with her, which is surprisingly fun. Fortunately I still have enough energy to keep up with her and tire her out. She has been to stay with us for a few weekends prior to moving in so she has at least started to trust us, so she is comfortable if it's just her and I doing stuff.

This morning has been relatively quiet so far, getting ready for church and hoping the weather holds enough for a walk in the woods later on. It's not going to be a particularly strenuous walk - it's one I can do in under a couple of hours, so I'm expecting our foster daughter to take 4 hours or so to cover it. At the halfway mark there are a couple of bailout options where we can get back to the road and have my wife come to collect us, if time is really getting on. There are also a couple of trail junctions that let us cut things short if we need to. She should sleep well tonight.

She isn't fully registered in her new school yet so we'll need to figure what to do with her tomorrow, and it's supposed to rain so we'll most likely have to take her to the church to run around indoors to let off some steam. The next several days are supposed to be rainy but hopefully she'll be in school before too long.

Do you mind my asking how old is she? She sounds like a lot of fun!

She's 13. She loves just about any kind of ball games. I'm having to refresh my memory to figure out how to throw a football so it doesn't tumble through the air but I can run rings round her with a soccer ball and a basketball.

Much like anyone else her age, sometimes she can be a bit moody and sometimes she's a bundle of fun.

Unless something goes badly wrong in the next several months our plan is to adopt her.

Another session of running around at church after her. This time was kicking a soccer ball around. Somehow I managed to score a lot more goals than she did, although I had the advantage of a wall next to her "goal" and she hasn't quite figured out the physics of the ball bouncing off the nearby wall and going in.

Due to a headache and meds I took for it late last night, I overslept so missed worship. I did go to the rally of our area LWML group. Went out to eat, took a short walk and am home relaxing now. Nice day weatherize here too.
