5 mile walk today and it would have been nicer if less people had the same idea! Lots of cross country high school runners out there today.

Lazy day today. Went to a men's breakfast at church which was fun. Then had a funeral this afternoon. The deceased wasn't anyone I knew but I work the sound board and I was the only sound guy that could do it, so that took a couple of hours of the afternoon out. Between the two I caught up on some sleep with a nap in my recliner.

I'd gotten back from Church about an hour ago. The Gospel was about St. John the Baptist being made a head shorter because of the demands of a certain Herodias. As always, the Confession and Absolution, as well as the Sacrament of the Lord's Supper, were the highlights of the Divine Service ( I enjoyed the readings and the message too, of course).

I got back from the Divine Service too a while ago and just finished eating lunch. I need to do my workout soon but the weather is so blah I'd rather be lazy!

I never did like hearing about John the Baptist getting beheaded.

Why not? I do as I please. I am 60 years old and don't have parents any more.

Okay, I was just curious

I didn't run all last week because my neck was bothering me, but I am starting to feel better now

I've been building up to it for years now. I get in 15,000 steps a day and when I jog 2 miles of that it's over 7 miles a day. I do try to take a day of rest but in that I go only 10,000 steps.

Back to a combination of writing code and attacking my house.

Today I needed to follow up a current project and make a tweak to update a historic project. Not a lot of work on either today, but the tweak was to finalise another sale of the historic project. Sales are good.

Then I got to fighting with another section of my wall. I'm trying to be reasonably systematic despite the fact I'm really growing wearing of using hammer and chisel to break up mortar, mixing fresh mortar and doing the joint properly. Today I was dealing with a significant mismatch in levels between two concrete blocks so took the angle grinder to it. It makes short work of things but makes quite a mess that I have to clean up afterwards, which is a hassle. It's also a hassle wearing a respirator in this heat. But I got another strip of my wall fixed up. Maybe tomorrow I can do another strip or two, then cut the panels and fit them. The heat is really rather tedious. Hopefully fitting ever-more panels will help with that.

The final thing in the house was to break up an old wooden chest I found in the attic. It's seriously old - there were newspapers in it dating back to 1942, but it was in a really sorry state, literally falling apart. It's going out into the burn barrel soon. There's another chest up there that is in better condition and looks like it has some kind of markings to show where it came from, so I'll probably keep hold of that.

And then we went to see some friends for dinner and had a really good evening. Overall, a good day.

I found some free sheet music for flute and piano so I'm going to try it out and if I like one I'll present it to the organist/pianist at church to see if she'd like to do a duet :)

Too much stress over my position starting tomorrow. I'd had several interviews with this health authority for other positions and am fortunate to have been hired - they're tough to get in
