on my phone at 4 am and cant sleep..welcome to another episode of i cant sleep..im your host hotrhymez!
Go listen to a real boring teacher, German or something. I'd always fall asleep during those lessons.
That's a lot of trash, tango!
I was supposed to be looking up a recipe for dinner...but got distracted.
Oh yes, most of it was rubble and drywall. Last trip to the landfill was a whisker over 1,000lb. I just got cleaned up after pulling down some more, probably about 60lb. They say the devil is in the detail, having thought I had most of it sorted out I'm realising that even in the fairly narrow strips that are left (mostly over head height, that I need a ladder to get at) there's a fair chunk of rubble.
Next up is to talk to the nice people at the building office to find out what the building code says about my proposed insulation solution. Sadly my preferred product may not be an option - the guy I was dealing with hasn't replied to my emails in weeks. The bad news is that it means slightly lower insulation and a more flammable product. The good news is that the alternatives are much cheaper - potentially as little as half the price. I'd rather have the more expensive product - the increased cost is a one-off and the gain in insulation is ongoing - but if I can't find it in stores and the main sales guy isn't going to answer questions like "how do I place an order?" and "what forms of payment can you process?" I may not have much option. Naturally I need insulation in place before it starts to get cold again...
You mean newspaper is no longer acceptable insulation? LOL When my parents redid their old home there was newspaper in the walls!
Mentally bracing myself for an onslaught of bills. Rapidly coming to the point where I stop pulling things down and start putting things back up. That means buying supplies, at present I'm looking at probably 25-30 insulation panels, about the same amount of drywall, maybe 30-40 rolls of insulation for the attic, probably enough wood flooring to cover some 1500 square feet, a bunch of timbers to restud a couple of walls, and that's not including the work I'm going to pay someone to do on my roof. I'm OK with ladders and heights, I'm OK with physical work, I'm not so happy with both at the same time so I'll let someone else have any accidents that are going to happen at height...
My, what a work. How long have you been busy w this already? A year?
