I'm sitting near a window and enjoying such a nice cool breeze now that even though it's not quite summer but close enough since the beaches and pools are open and the children are out having fun after a long day but their energy doesn't stop. The fireflies are outside and I swear they're tormenting the children and begging to be caught but I don't have any glass jars to put them in so they have to catch and release for now.

This afternoon I became one with my recliner. Long day yesterday, long day tomorrow. Then on Tuesday I borrow a friend's truck so haul my rubble to the landfill. Then I can start over. I'm wondering whether my load so far will top over 1000 pounds.

Currently, looking over reviews of one the banks I use.

I had a rather negative experience today. Not a big deal, really - but enough to irk me. In a short time I'm closing my account at a certain bank, and will never look to them for anything again.

The online reviews are...interesting. At the site I'm currently viewing - they are 90% negative.

I got up and tried on some clothes to see that I'm getting into some of the ones that fit before I started working. FINALLY. It's been 10 months to shed what I put on in 18 months. Time to go hiking soon.

Got my stack of rubble taken away. The official weight was 0.51 tons. So having loaded it and then unloaded it I guess that means I've moved literally a ton of rubble this morning.

Now I've got space to do more wrecking.

Wow! That's a lot of garbage :D

I just finished riding my bike (I have a trainer) in the basement. It's been too wet all day and I left my jacket in my husband's car last night.

It was a lot of garbage. By the time I'm done with the rest of the house I'll probably have two more similar sized loads, as well as a huge number of extra laths to burn.

Had a friend around this evening to give me some pointers. He used to work in construction, and could give me a push in the right direction regarding a couple of things I didn't expect to find behind the old walls.

Dehydrating cooked pasta, of all things.

Doesn't make much sense unless what I read about it is true - apparently it rehydrates very quickly in some hot/boiling water. We'll see. If it works like that then it's perfect for quick-prepared eats when I'm out of my place. Cheap and healthier than most instant noodles.

Playing lots of Bach and doing Hanon exercises. I really cannot emphasize the benefits of those exercises enough - you do have to do them every day - and be prepared for some slight finger/wrist/forearm pain as you build muscles - but it's so worth it. I used to do them years and years ago but got out of the habit - and even though I play nearly daily - my technical ability has suffered some. This is bringing it back.

I think I asked you this before but how old is your house?

I'm finishing breakfast and will continue working on an illustration for church. I'm really afraid of messing this up and I might have to start over if it doesn't go well. It's an ink drawing of the church building.

Regarding bolded. This works. It took about 6-7 minutes after putting dried, pre-cooked spaghetti pasta in boiled, covered water (just brought to a boil, not continuous boil) to re-hydrate. Would have been faster if kept under boil, and faster still if I used something like angel-hair spaghetti or some other very thin kind instead of the normal thicker type I used.

According to the website I got the idea from - properly cooked and fully dehydrated pasta will keep for 5 years if also contained properly.

I think I asked you this before but how old is your house?

A little over 100 years. It was built, then extended (and I think extended a second time). Then at some point in the future wiring was added, then modified, then modified again. We've got a new breaker box and some old screw-in fuses that are live, wiring that ranges from knob-and-tube to ungrounded cable to old PVC grounded cable to new PVC grounded cable. In some places there was nice new cable from the breaker box that was joined to knob-and-tube. And along the way some genius decided to put in 20A sockets on a circuit with cable that's rated at 15A, and elsewhere they put a 20A breaker on a circuit that's partially rated at 20A and partially at 15A (in other words, the 15A cable will melt before the breaker trips).

Needless to say I've got my work cut out, but I'm learning all sorts of fun stuff along the way. Chances are by the time I'm done I'll be on first name terms with the local permit office. I'm also accumulating a collection of fun tools.

Walk in the woods. My wife joined me today and found the mountain hard going. Then mowed the lawn. Then an ice cream was in order.
