Wow you should be a publiscist for the Russians, and quit coming against my country if you please. You wish to believe that they are making nice and have a well balanced policy then live in your fairy tale land but quit bashing the US. I for one am tired of it and I know at least a couple others are as well.
So, am I mistaken to think that this is a Christian forum or only a forum for Americans who believe that whatever their country does in right?
You may have failed to observe that I am also critiquing NATO and Australian foreign policies and as a Christian whose looking at a broader picture and not one that is based merely on the whims of my countries military-industrial moguls (and we certainly have our own), then shouldn't the People of God be viewing world affairs in isolation from their individual countries various secular agendas. Remember, we are heading for the Last Days where the various secular powers will endup standing against God, this includes Australia, China, Europe (NATO), Russia and the USA; so what are the Christians in each of these countries to do, are we to put our heads in the sand where we each say that "we're the good-guys" and the others are "the bad-guys", or are we to look at world affairs through the eyes of God (or at least as best as we can).
Over the decades I've been looking at the rise of the EU (and NATO), where the future leader will be the Antichrist. The Antichrist will not be reigning in isolation in Brussells, but he will have the full support of all the EU nations, and guess what, his military force will be NATO! At the moment I am keenly watching the developments in the UK where there is a strong movement to leave the EU, if this does happen, where I trust that every British Christian is both praying and lobbying their political representatives to encourage them to support this departure, if this does occur, then the Christian heritage of the UK may possibly see them staying away from the leadership of the future Antichrist. Hopefully the Christians in the USA will do much the same thing, where they will heed the warning of President Eisenhower (1961) who warned the Amercians about the problem of the US military-industrial complex. If the Christians in the USA are able to eventually curtail the endeavours of their moguls/oligarchs (and with that of their rank and file shareholders) where the US can return to their Christian foundations, then I would like to think that if the 'elect' can stand for the Christian Heritage of the USA then maybe the US will be able to remain outside of the Antichrist's power as well.
As for poor old Australia, we may be the same physical size as the USA and bigger than Europe, but as we are currently only 24 million people, our industrial leaders will probably have us following whatever international agenda best suits their needs.
You might be surprised to discover that having returned from our wonderful six week trip to the USA in 2012, that I actually spend a lot of time defending the US to my Christian friends as many of them (especially the non-Christians) tend to have a very low opinion of the USA. Only last night, we were with some family (non-Christian) friends where one of them began to talk about the recent school massacre in Oregon; someone else asked, "Was it in Oregon as there seems to be so many it hards to keep track", this is how many Australians (and others?) view the USA. As most Australians only view the US through the filter of the many school massacres that we see on our nightly news programs, we can easily gain a distorted view of the situation in the US, which is something that I frequently try to rectify.
Before we went to the USA, I was ardently anti-gun, as about the only people here in Australia who own guns, beside that of our farmers and a few gun collectors are our criminals. Since looking at the gun issue in the US, I now fully support even the open-carrying of side arms but at the same time, if our State were to attempt to relax our gun ownership laws I would be prepared to join an anti-gun group here in Australia.
Whenever I find myself defending the USA to my friends (which seems to occur a lot), I explain that unlike Australia, as the USA is comprised of a large and very diverse population base, with a strong history, we need to understand its complexity, where no single issue should be considered in isolation from the many other connecting concerns.
