Sacrifices in our lives

When I was growing up we were very poor. I remember looking in my mother's sock drawer and finding that she only had 7 pairs of socks and it hit me how she sacrificed having nice clothes (she mended things when they became worn) so that my sister and I could be presentable enough when we attended school.

Of course my parents sacrificed much more as parents as most parents do.

Are there any sacrifices besides Christ's that stands out in your life that others have done for you?
