Good evening MS, Bill and Lamm and Tango and anyone who comes here. Had a good Thanksgiving at my brother's. They had some really tasty beer too. I don't shop on Black Friday. Too many cookey people on the road today. Or so I think. lol. I hope you all have a nice weekend.

I don't go to major stores when it's busy, I have a pathological dislike for standing in line for ages. If lines are too long I have been known to just put my basket on the ground and leave.

I do visit local places. The kind of local store where being busy means there's 5 other people in there. I like craft fairs too, although so many of them sell such junky stuff it's not funny.

I don't go to any stores when I know it's busy unless I have to take a friend shopping on the weekend. I did go grocery shopping today, though. I needed a few things. I think I'm going to make spaghetti with meat sauce one of these days soon. I have some ground round to use up. It's still in the freezer. I better take it out!

As a rule if I know somewhere is going to be busy I avoid it unless I have to be there. London is busy, if you've ever tried to make any headway on Regent Street the Saturday before Christmas you'll understand what "busy" means in my world. I moved away from there, and now "busy" means having to wait for a couple of cars to pass before pulling out of the driveway, or not being able to go through the traffic lights in a single cycle.

In other news, the cat is now big enough to jump from the floor to the kitchen counter. So now we need additional counter measures to convince the cat that the kitchen counter is a Very Bad Place to be. Squares of cardboard rigged with sectional frame pieces positioned to fall to the ground and make a Loud Noise given the slightest nudge seem to be doing the trick so far.

Happy Advent!

Being a penitential season does not preclude injecting a joyous note in our doings and prayers through this season.

At mass today we lit the first of the four candles in our advent wreath. It is purple as are the second and the fourth candles but the third is rose coloured. Each candle is associated with readings specific to the first advent and the second advent as well as to major characters in the gospels such as saint John the Baptist and Blessed Mary the mother of our Lord.
