Yes. I suspect this is usually the case for parents and their young (sometimes older) children. Rhetorical question: When's the last time one of your parents asked you for advice?
Let's turn that same question Godward...
"Can you disrespect God and still love Him?"

I was thinking the other way around. Does God respect people who are dead in their sins? Sounds more like love. But also respect. Just not in the sense of: oh I place such high value on your ideas. God with Job. Come teach Me. Or Jonah. That was some John Cleese humor with that plant that died. I don't really see respect, but respect for his life maybe? He did respect Abraham and Moses. He listened to Abraham.

yes reminds me of...

Romans 5:10 a
For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, ...

(umm who is John Cleese?...not a cheesy comedian I hope 🙄 )

True, God is not a respecter of persons...he doesn't play favorites.

I keep hearing from people that respect has to be earned. But I read in Mark that Jesus said "Love your neighbor as yourself."

Do you think that respect has to be earned, or do you love your neighbor as yourself? Do you think the two statements are in conflict?
I think there's is a common courtesy or respect providing nothing there is no evidence to the contrary suggesting the person doesn't deserve that level of respect. Then we can still error on the side graciousness til a point in my mind. If abuse is indicated then respect, if you're truly at that junction in the relationship, needs to be earned where these certain contexts persists. I find in some contexts sanity, self-preservation from an abuser; respect may will look like abandonment to the abuser and for all practical purposes it may well be.
