My kids want to make youtube movies but their dad says it's too dangerous. Why? they ask me. 'Because dad says so.' These days you have to watch out with everything.
CARE is needed! Kids are just too trusting, too ignorant and (well) often don't THINK.
I'll give you an example. I don't know how old I was - maybe 12 or 13 - but on a site I posted some pics. Well, seems some girl was interested. Elsewhere, I posted the first time of a friend who also was a part of my swim club. Elsewhere, I had mentioned the town I lived in. That's all she needed. She found the swim club in my town..... she found a pic of the team members with the names...... only one guy had that first name but how she had the last name..... she found the phone number of that family name.... she phoned my friend..... LIED about a bunch of stuff..... he gave her my address (but not phone).... she found the phone number (as well as my parents full names). She was like 12. She called ALL THE TIME, so "in love" with me. That's just ONE example, not the worse (that involved a paedophile) but the one that made my parents aware that more privacy and parental controls were needed. If a love-sick 12 year old girl can do this - image what an expert on the 'net can do.
Best to be very private. If this bothers some, so be it.
