Preaching a false hope

No, this isn't about the cross or forgiveness.

I've seen memes on Facebook that state this, I know there are books that use it as the moral of the story and I hear people state it all the time:

"We are safe because God is with us."

The problem with such a theology is that God won't let bad things happen to us. Yet bad things do happen. He does allow it. That doesn't mean He has stopped loving us and He does protect us from evil/demons.

Or do the christians around the world who are persecuted not have enough faith? It's a nonsense theology that's only nice in the cosy West.

I think that the only adage like the one you quote that can claim truth is this "we are safe when we are with God" but the safety we enjoy when we are with God is not necessarily physical & material.

We need to know Gods will in any situation and yes I do believe persecution will come to America, why should we be comfortable and safe while our brothers and sisters are being slaughtered in the bname of Jesus

I do not think that the USA is as important as your post suggests

At this point the biggest thing is our arsenal and power behind Israel, it is a major reason that I think this country will be brought sdown and it seems that this is happening as we debate.

I do not think any prophecy is about the nation called Israel today.

We are all saved in the same way, by grace through faith. Yes, there are people of Israel who have faith and will be saved. Those who do not have faith in the Savior will not be saved. That's Law and Gospel out of scripture.

ON THE ONE HAND, we do not have a promise to be protected from all bad (remember what happened to our Lord and Master?)

ON THE OTHER HAND, we are more than victors through Him who loves us.... even if that victory happens as we are transferred to heaven. The Martyrs died - victors, protected.

I believe that it is a false expectation (and possibly a false hope) to preach that when Israel (the nation) forms some sort of treaty with a charismatic world leader (presumably an anti-christ) that the end will come soon and folk who are Christians will disappear from the earth (evidently leaving their clothes in a heap where they were).

PS: "meme" is a pretend word for which English has a perfectly good real word which is "idea"
