More details are coming out about this. The report states that the guy who got shot had been reaching down to the cigarette lighter to light a cigarette. Right after is when the policeman fired shots.

It's sad that the guy was shot in front of kids but even sadder that it's his fault he took them on a high speed chase with no headlights on.

On the news I watched (it happened near me) the police had been watching him in the van and saw him light the cigarette. It was after that the police opened the door and shot in the chest.

I am not one who automatically blames the police; the report looked very bad for the police who shot him. I'm just telling what was said on the news.

According to the log and the article you posted Lamm:
According to the log, the van slowed and an officer reported that Evans was reaching around in the van, lighting a cigarette. A minute later, at 2:40 a.m., shots were fired near mile marker 220, about 16 miles from where the chase began.

Yes, he took them on a high speed run from the police but does that give them the right to kill him?

The police need little excuse to kill certain people. They have a gun, they want to use it. It is a sick mentality to want to murder anyone. But, that is all in the sin nature.

A lot can happen in that "minute later" though. Was a weapon brandished? Did he verbally tell the police officer he would harm him?

The guy also had a criminal record and was driving without a license. He's not an innocent guy.

Does anyone remember the incident where a guy was killed by a police officer and the witnesses all said his hands were up and there was no weapon...until proof showed that they all lied?

Do you remember all the other instances where the police overstepped use of force? Many have been killed because of this, it is an epidemic in nthis country. Not all police are bad but many allow power to go to their heads . Yes they have a difficult job but it is compounded many times by these bad cops and the culture is pervasive with abuse sorry to say

They don't train them to shoot in a leg.

I heard a reporter tell of her experience with a cop who stopped her and her dad on the highway and of the way her dad felt he had to sit in the car. He was and older gentleman and had learned from bad experiences with cops. The way the cop spoke so derogatorily to her dad made her cry. But, he survived. It is bad that certain people have to be afraid of dying from a routine traffic stop. IMHO that is terrorism.
Like I said earlier, there was a lot of wrong on both ends. I am just sad that a person lost his life.

They don't train them to murder either. The man made him mad because he had to chase him. But that is no reason to murder.

I think they think quicker that it's dangerous, so shoot in chest is normal, thats how they treat dogs here that are dangerous, but yes, this is just murder.

Some police here in America treat certain people like they are animals.
