Is being an organ donor the Christian thing to do?

If yes, why? I've struggled with this.
I don't see anything particularly Christian about the practice. It's not to say it's a bad thing to be an organ donor but I just don't see anything about it that makes it Christian when there are those outside of the faith more than happy to do it so what makes you a Christian so special for doing what those who aren't Christian are willing to do?
