Have you watched any of the Olympics this year? I was in a restaurant and the ping pong match was going on and I think that's the only part I've watched.

I'm usually quite engrossed with the Olympics....

but this year, I have two sons to parent (and a wife to support!) and, frankly, it seems rather boring. USUALLY, there's a person or two around which there is much interest, "stars", and I think the only possible one bowed out (I could talk about that!). The "human interest" element seems largely missing this year.

Curiosity seems the only saving grace for these Olympics. The shameful behavior of some of the athletes aside, it doesn't seem like real Olympic competition when the events are recently-contrived "sports" that no one at home has seen before and which is reminiscent of school playground activity. For example, half-court 3 on 3 basketball and, for another, some kind of waterless water polo combined with rugby or Australian rules football.

I watched some volleyball and track and field last night. My wife's familyis in town, whom primarily speak Spanish, making watching sports a great medium most will join in on.

I really struggle with the concept of team sports (in which there is no one winner) and events in which final placings is a matter of judgment rather than objective fact.

In a 100m race it's clear who crossed the finishing line first. When it comes to gymnastics, diving and the like and it's about the subjective opinion of a group of judges, with whatever biases and attempts to correct bias they tinker with, it sometimes seems the judges might as well just decide who they like the most, hand out the medals, and not bother with constantly jumping into the water.

I followed the updates on the Olympics on the news from time to time but I didn't really follow it that closely. I think from the whole event, I watched two events and both were just highlights and not the live event. That was skateboarding and one of the sprints.

I didn't watch the Olympics. The last time I watched the Olympics was in 2016 when the Olympics was situated in London. I watched the sports which interested from the comfort of my own home. It was a fantastic year spent with family and friends! I still have a 50p collection from the 2016 games in mint condition.

Seen a bit but with COVID-19 most places did not go and stayed at home. Plus No fun anymore, too much politics, Russia ban, transgenders competing with women, lots of inferior sports introduced, so on.
