Good.It's not.
Good.It's not.
I meant I wanted to make sure it isn’t a requirement either, not “too.”It's not.

But I guess you know what I mean.
That's not a dumb question at all but a very central question to our faith. Perhaps the LCMS pastor should be teaching/feeding his flock true food for the soul before harping on young earth/old earth issues.Dumb question but what is Justification?

Uh, thanks?????Her pastor isn't harping on it, it's her own brain caught up in it due to OCD.
My pastor never talks about itThat's not a dumb question at all but a very central question to our faith. Perhaps the LCMS pastor should be teaching/feeding his flock true food for the soul before harping on young earth/old earth issues.
Justification answers the question, "How can guilty sinners pass the judgment seat of a Holy God?My pastor never talks about it
What does that have to do with my pastor not discussing theistic evolution or the age of the earth?Justification answers the question, "How can guilty sinners pass the judgment seat of a Holy God?
Answer...God declares (justifies) a sinner (us) righteous by faith in His Son Jesus on account of the merits of Jesus Christ alone and nothing on account of what we do.
By it, all glory and thanks goes to God and no glory goes to ourselves.
It's the central core of the Gospel itself.
So when @Josiah has as his signature, ‘we are justified by works, just not our own', that's exactly right. Another way of saying it is 'We are saved by works..His work, not our own.'
Nothing. Your pastor is right. What you are worried about is not considered by your church to be a belief that is expected of anyone who holds membership in the church. What does that have to do with my pastor not discussing theistic evolution or the age of the earth?
Yes, I agree and like I’d mentioned before in another thread (s), I wouldn’t want a non- trained pastor anyway.Nothing. Your pastor is right. What you are worried about is not considered by your church to be a belief that is expected of anyone who holds membership in the church.
And you can certainly trust the pastor to be levelling with you and to know his own church's position with regard to this matter. The LC-MS is, after all, well-known for its educational facilities and for the training given to the men who are put in charge of its congregations as pastors.
You asked, “What is justification?”.What does that have to do with my pastor not discussing theistic evolution or the age of the earth?
I asked TWO MONTHS ago. Move on.You asked, “What is justification?”.
Has he been teaching you ‘the very doctrine by which the Church stands or falls’?
Fine, I just hope your pastor has taught you ‘what is justification’ in the past two months.I asked TWO MONTHS ago. Move on.

Yes they do but I dont think they’ve used that word.Lutheran pastors talk about this...I mean, they wouldn't be Lutheran if they didn't.
What word do they use?Yes they do but I dont think they’ve used that word.
Also they teach that men cannot be justified before God by their own strength, merits, or works, but are freely justified for 2 Christ’s sake, through faith, when they believe that they are received into favor, and that their sins are forgiven for Christ’s sake, who, by His death, has made satisfaction for our sins. 3 This faith God imputes for righteousness in His sight. Rom. 3 and 4.
They just have messages, usually in a series and during their message will talk about grace and sin along with other topics. What word do they use?
I have never met a Lutheran pastor that didn't use and teach the term 'justification by faith (alone).
Article IV of the Augsburg Confession zeroes in on justification.
