I've seen a few videos of people making their own coffee creamer. Have you done that? Did it turn out better than the store bought?

My wife tried it for a while. I think she mixed regular milk with pumpkin spice. The original recipe called for half-and-half but she used regular milk to avoid the extra fat.

She liked it for a while but soon decided there wasn't much point using good quality coffee if she wasn't going to actually taste the coffee, and she'd rather drink nice coffee and enjoy it than smother everything in a pumpkin flavor.

Does she drink it black now?

No, we use a splash of either milk or half-and-half. We buy a coffee we both like from a local coffee shop that opened up. The owner roasts the coffee barely a mile from our house.

Ooh that's nice. We have a guy who does that and sells it out of a stand by the side of the road. It's so expensive though. I have to drink decaf and his is the best one I've tried from all the local shops/stands.

Our local guy's regular price for a regular bag is significantly more than I'm comfortable paying, nearly twice the price of my previous supplier. But when I asked him about buying in volume he offered me a lower price and when I increased the volume further he dropped a bit more. He's still a little more than our previous supplier but the price difference is worth paying now. And it never looks bad for him, when someone goes into his cafe and buys a honking great bag of coffee to take away!

How much coffee do you go through? I know he does a decaf blend, just a question of whether it's worth having it shipped when shipping can end up costing as much as the product.

I use Keurig cups. I only drink one or two cups a day, so it's not worth making any type of pot for me.

That's probably not worth changing. My wife and I usually have a cup of coffee in the morning and then another in the afternoon - depending on the weather we either have a second hot coffee or a cold brew.

If you're the only coffee drinker and you don't drink a lot it's probably not worth doing much else. That said you can get one-cup filters and small French presses, if you did want to explore the world of coffee.

An Aeropress also makes good coffee, but it uses more coffee grounds than other methods. One big upside is that it's really easy to clean. I used to work at a place where I had easy access to a water dispenser but not to a sink (I was never sure if the water in the bathroom was drinking water or not, so didn't chance it). I could wipe out my Aeropress with a paper towel and that was all it needed. At the end of the week I took my coffee cup home to give it a proper clean and my Aeropress lived in my desk drawer.

My husband drinks regular coffee and I drink decaf...so we agreed to just do the Keurig since it's easiest for both of us.
