Federal employees are suing the U.S. Department of Agriculture and Secretary Brooke Rollins, accusing the Trump official of "Christian proselytizing" after she sent department emails on Christmas and Easter with religious messages.

Easter and Christmas are ABOUT Christ, but we aren't supposed to even say so? Ridiculous.

Its' a balancing act, Lamb. (Or its' supposed to be.)

The Constitution protects religious liberty in two ways: (1) by allowing individuals the right to worship/not worship the god(s/esses) one wishes to worship. The Constitution, however, prohibits government from either imposing or favoring one religion over another.

In this situation, you have the AgSec, Brooke Rollins, using government resources to send emails to AgDept. employees with overtly religious messaging in them; that's a direct shot at the Establishment Clause. Now, it'd be one thing if she were to send a message on either holiday wishing AgDept. workers a Merry Christimas/Happy Holidays/Happy Easter, etc., et.al.

It is quite another for her to use her position to put the government's thumb on the scale one way or another; as Christ reminded the Pharisees, "Render unto Caesar what is his and render unto God what is His."

Were they really overly religious or making the statements about Easter and Christmas, which are Christian holidays and the government workers have off for those holidays???

If they do not like the Christian messages then perhaps they should not be given time off for those Christian holidays or extra pay if the have to work on them?

The problem isn't the messages; that's not the issue. If Sec. Rollins gave these messages as a private citizen, like you or I, we're not even having this conversation. But she sent the messages as AgSec, using official channels to do so. That puts the thumb of government on the messages she sent, which makes it an Establishment issue.

What about those of us who worship on Saturday instead of Sunday?
Do we not count as well?
