What is worse, being in jail or being homeless and why?

Depends on the crime you did I guess and which jail. If it's for life, I'd probably choose jail because at least I would know I'd get food, a bed and healthcare for free.

Being in jail is worse. You can always buy a car for 1 euro that doesn't work and live in it. Still better than locked up in a room in prison. By the way I saw in the paper that a homeless guy made 1000 in a day, by collecting cans at festivals and bringing em to the grocery store.

Being in jail is worse. Being homeless isn't much better but, a homeless person has one thing that an inmate doesn't: Their freedom. To me that is the biggest difference. I'd rather be free than locked in a 6x6 cell.

Sort of depends on where and in what season.

Homeless in S. Cali during any season - better than jail
Homeless in any area where it gets to freezing and below - worse than jail.

Uhm... Homeless shelters?
You're assuming there's always room in them.

I used to live in an area of the US where they were often not equipped to handle the homeless. In winter in that area, if you're homeless and there is no shelter, you sleep outside. That means frozen dead people in the morning, on benches, in parks, etc.
