Some people like living in an apartment. Some people like living in a detached house. Some people like living in the center of everything and accept a lack of living space as the price to pay for that. Some people like living somewhere more remote.

That's the beauty of capitalism. You can decide for yourself what your priorities are and live accordingly. You live on ramen noodles for months so you can save the money for a shiny new phone if that's your thing.
We have a mix of socialism and capitalism. If you have a partner with a good job you can choose or if you're old. Older ppl who have never worked a day in their life have a nice house. I know a guy who the last time he worked was 30 years ago. He has no kids. He's not sick. He's just lazy. He got a splendid house from the govt and now if you get immigrants they get the same rights and houses are scarse, so they let them have the fat house, while mom is housewife and dad has no job and no intention to work and that makes ppl here mad, but if you don't want that maybe quit this half communism. No wonder we attract mooches. Everyone wants a nice house. Noone lives for their fun in a too small apt. If I had been nasty like those other divorced moms I would have had the house. Often the mom has a big fat house and the kids and dad is forced to pay, while he lives in his mom's basement. I had a nice house, but my ex just moved, which was forbidden, but nobody cares and in this city there are only flats and I may be happy I found this and that I'm not a man and not forced to pay alimony.
We are spoiled here in Holland. It used to be that a single mom was awww poor thing, here you have a house from daddy govt, but now the rich are more interested in helping the poorer from other countries and that's their right, no problem, but now the spoiled here get mad. And if you were a poor immigrant and came here earlier, too bad, no house for you, cause the new ones go first. They stopped doing that now, cause ppl got mad. And there are houses enough for everyone. We have loads of parks with holiday houses, but noone may live there, because money and the rich want and a big fat house and a holiday house and we need farm land for export to China.

This reminds me of a house on the road where I used to live. We had a single mother with four kids living in a house with her rent paid by the taxpayer. One such taxpayer was a couple I knew who had two kids and lived in a two-bedroom apartment that they had to pay for themselves. Their kids were young enough that they could share a bedroom at the time but would soon need their own rooms (they had a boy and a girl) but even though their taxes were funding someone else living in a house they would dearly love to have they couldn't have it because they worked.

How to provide for people who genuinely need help while not handing free money to all and sundry is a remarkably tricky balancing act. It's another tricky balancing act to offer temporary help that doesn't then become a poverty trap, where reduction in benefits as people try to earn their own way acts as an effective additional income tax, leaving many people in a situation where working just isn't worth the benefit.

Plenty of socialism, but not a lot of "capitalism," is evident in the account you've given us.
