When you have close friends or family staying as guests in your home (not living, just visiting) Do you appreciate help with minor household chores like cleaning up after meals, doing dishes, taking out trash? Or would you rather do those things yourself?

The only guests I ever have are kids or teens. I don't expect help. One kid came to the kitchen to throw something away instead of on the floor. That was sweet.

I appreciate any help I get since they help to make the mess, they can help clean it all up too!! Usually though, everyone but my niece will go and sit down and watch me clean or cook.

My last houseguest, my sister, wasn't feeling well so I nursed her back to health. I guess it depends on the situation. I would help out if I was visiting someone. Everyone's different, I guess.

Yes, it would be considerate and fair for the guests to help out, but as was already mentioned, a lot of this depends on who the guest is.

You'd probably expect your sister to offer to help in the kitchen, but you'd never think of having your employer or the pastor do the same thing. At the same time, many of those special people are considerate enough to offer their help anyway, and most hosts would not feel right accepting it.

Imagine Martha. 12 disciples and no dish washer and Mary didn't even serve Jesus and He said it was great.

You're reminding me of an old jingle that was based on a Pepsi-cola commercial--

Christianity hits the spot
Twelve Apostles, that's a lot
Holy Ghost and the Virgin, too.
Christianity's the one for you.

(Pepsi-Cola hits the spot
Twelve full ounces, that's a lot!
Twice as much for a nickel, too
Pepsi-Cola is the drink for you.)
