This is in response to a post I saw this week but didn't reply right away and it's been in my mind ever since so maybe we can talk about this.

I saw a poster write that God wouldnt' give us a command we couldn't fulfill and I"m not sure if those are even the exact words but you get the idea right? When I think about this I see Adam and Eve in the garden and God telling them what not to eat and yet how did that work out for them?

This no way belittles what the Savior has done for us. But in this statement there is a lack of faith in the power of the Holy Spirit to keep us from sinning. The very fact that the two were put together like we can compare ourselves with Him.... Really... that is apples and oranges... It is only through the Holy Spirit’s power that we can resist temptation and live victorious for Yeshua!

1 Corinthians 10:13 says, “… the temptations that come into your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will keep the temptation from becoming so strong that you can’t stand up against it. When you are tempted, He will show you a way out so that you will not give into it”

In this verse, God tells us how to overcome temptation! First of all, trust God …temptation is normal! Secondly, trust God … the Holy Spirit will give us the ability to withstand temptation! Finally, trust God … He will give us a “way out”.

Matthew 6:33 is a great verse to memorize and to hold on to when faced with temptation from the “world”: “Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need" ...to overcome and be victorious is Him.

If you are involved in a battle over temptation, sin, or addiction to a substance or lifestyle, the power of the Holy Spirit is able to lift you out and give you total victory. Choose to trust Him! Focus on your relationship with God, who He is, what He is doing in your life!

2 Thessalonians 3:3 assures us, “But the Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen and protect you from the evil one”
James 4:7 promises, “Surrender to God! Resist the devil, and he will run from you.”

Memorize scripture, ask God to fill you with the Holy Spirit’s wisdom, hold on to God’s faithfulness … the Holy Spirit will help you resist temptation! The more victories under your belt, the more transformed your life will be, and the more in harmony with His Kingdom, you will find yourself. I never said the battle was easy, but I say the victories are to the Glory of God. There is no fulfilling by us, because it is all through Him.

How are you going with this commandment? Matthew 5:48 You, therefore, must be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.

That's only possible if you pray all day.

Yep, the first thing is to believe it is possible with God's help. The the possibility gets better with practice.

Paul hadn't achieved it yet. It's a nice goal, but when you see it as: you have to, you have to and you may not sin or you go to hell, lol that's like telling someone with panic attacks: don't panic or you go to hell, and add some good accusations, well if you want to turn me into a filthy sinner that's the way to do it and I mean real sin, living in blatant sin. I won't fall for that anymore though. As long as God doesn't accuse me I don't care what people say.

We are not to look around us, but up to where we are heading. It is not what the neighbors say or do that directs us, it is Him who leads us. We trust Him, believe Him, and obey Him and love Him.

So, even PERFECT people..... in a PERFECT world..... were NOT obedient. Hum.....

Maybe the question is just wrong..... it's not an issue of whether we CAN but whether we DO.

And of course, GOD supplied the ONE who DID do it. He was born about 2000 years ago in a town named Bethlehem, you can guess His name. Maybe the primary purpose of the Law is the show us how we do NOT keep it.... and then bring us to the Gospel which tells us who DID keep it - for us?

For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.

3*For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:

4*That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

Many think it is the "Law" part that is done away with, thus removing removing sin and death, for without definition or penalty, there is freedom... they say...

Yep.. not true freedom.. but a self deception for anyone believing it.... especially those who are "saved by grace"... like that all there is to the gospel.

The moral principles set forth in the ten commandments provide a fence within which is safety. Relationships can be fostered within the bounds set by the commandments. Outside of them relationships are on dangerous ground. Many marriages fail because of actions that are outside of the commandments.

but we "are" saved by grace .. ;) saved from sin .so we Don't have to do it any more .

i know if some one saved me from drowning .. i don't have to sit in there treading water and keep drowning any more .
i long for people to see that when the lord Jesus saves you, he will lead you out of sin (if you will listen and follow him) he wont leave you wallowing in it .

if drowning in water leads to death ..- you don't stay in the water after your saved out of it .as that will lead you to death again .
Just so.. if you stay in sin after being saved from it ..it will bring death again .

we must follow the Sheppard of our souls and he will lead us out of the mire of sin.. and into green pastures .. then we must leave that place and go and do what ever he tells us to do and continue on in obedience .
for he has set us apart .(sanctified us ) FOR obedience -just as it is written .

why is it then that you so often seek to redefine where the fence is when it comes to idolatry ?

Saved from sin is another way of saying saved from breaking the commandments of God.
