A French politician has called on the US to give the Statue of Liberty back after suggesting that some Americans “have chosen to switch to the side of the tyrants.”

Raphael Glucksmann, a member of the European Parliament who represents the small left-wing party Place Publique, made the comments at a rally on Sunday.

“Give us back the Statue of Liberty,” said Glucksmann. “It was our gift to you. But apparently you despise her.”

One politician doesn't speak for hundreds of years of history. He's trying to get noticed.

It's not MAGA. It's MWAA. Make the world awful again. Trump's administration is systematically worsening life in Europe, Canada, China and probably other countries too. This isn't about America anymore. America has been doing just fine for centuries without threatening other countries, without tariff wars, without encouraging the expansionist actions of dictators.

Republicans should see this. This isn't about Democrats vs Republicans anymore. It isn't about conservatism vs. wokism anymore. It's not about transgendered bathrooms and LGBTQ influencing children anymore. It's about Trump gradually becoming a threat to the world. Trump, not America. The Trump administration and those who support it. You're not defending your political party anymore.

If you support Trump's actions and statements from the past two months, you are contributing to the deterioration of both America and the world. You might not realize it or you might be doing it on purpose - either way, you should be ashamed of yourself.

How has your life been negatively affected?

FWIW, I would suggest that it isn't the duty of America to take care of the well being of the rest of the world before first taking care of its own, particularly so when the rest of the world, for as long as I can remember and I'm quite old, has no consideration at all for the well being of America, just what it can get from it.

As I see it.

Oh, is that so, Mr. Bible follower? Hmm... Philippians 2:3-5 seems to disagree with you on that one.

When has anyone ever asked America to do that? It's called building a peaceful world based on mutual contributions.

How has your life been negatively affected?
The Trump administration (Vance and Musk) have been actively interfering in European elections in several countries (Germany, the UK, Romania), including my own. Vance and Musk have been openly supporting Russia's attempt at creating zones of influences in Europe. Vance and Musk have been criticizing our attempts to stop the Russian interference in our elections.

Musk went as far as to call the President of our Constitutional Court a "tyrant" on X because he didn't agree with the decision that a candidate who had rigged the presidential campaign in my country be banned from running again in the elections. Not because Musk cares about said Romanian candidate. No, he doesn't even know the guy. If he did, he would likely hate him. It's because said candidate is a pro-Russia extremist who parrots Putin's speech, is an antisemite, a fascism enthusiast and very likely a Russian asset.

You can look these things up online.

Also, Trump's expansionist views and his threats to annex Canada and Greenland have fueled various extremist political parties in Eastern Europe. They all cite Trump as their inspiration for why they want to start wars and annex regions from other countries. They all justify their rhetoric with Trump's arguments about geopolitical strategies. Do you realize how encouraging it is for expansionist politicians from small countries to hear the president of America threaten to annex other regions.

Just last month, a political party from Bulgaria wrote on Facebook that they were inspired by Trump to demand regions from Romania (my country) because said regions belonged to them before WW2. We have a war at our Northern border (Ukraine vs. Russia), and now we have threats at our Southern border. You can thank Trump for that.

Well, allow me to refresh your memory. After 9/11, many European countries joined the U.S. in military operations in Afghanistan and Iraq. Denmark lost more soldiers per capita than the US in Afganistan. You know, Denmark, the country that Vance just said it's not a good ally. And what about the disaster relief aids we sent you after every one of your hurricanes? The European Union is one of the U.S.'s largest trading partners, supporting millions of American jobs. European allies helped counter Soviet influence, providing key bases and intelligence. Remember the American Revolution? France was instrumental in helping the American colonies win independence from Britain. So maybe it's you who should be saying some "thank you"s every now and then. Oh, and don't forget to wear a traditional European outfit when you come here, you know, because fashion is more important than helping people whose countries are bombed and destroyed.

You didn't say how your life has been negatively affected by Trump (who has only been in office two months in case you have forgotten and confused him with the prior administration).

You make many accusations against him, are you willing to go before God at judgment with them?

That is what a Christian must always consider.

The Bible does tell us to take care or our own house first, which is what America under Trump is starting to do, and not to put ourselves at a disadvantage to others by trying to help them first.

Personally, as a matter of personal belief, I suggest every country should take care of their own affairs and people first and neither put the welfare of others ahead of them or bow down to powers outside of themselves in doing so.

As I see it.
