ESV, although I sometimes check other translations. I also check with Greek language reference works when I have concerns with a translation.King James Easy Reader (a.k.a., The Sword Bible). Has words of God in red in both OT and NT, difficult terms underlined and explained at the end of the verse, archaic or obsolete words replaced with their modern equivalents, notation on words for God that tell if the original lanugage is plural or singular. Sample page below. Examples of features: Elohim in first verse is flagged as plural form. Verse 6 references 2 Peter 3:5 and gives "expanse" as a clarification to "firmament." I have a copy in my computer bible program. But you should see the Geneva Bible Notes. They help greatly with an understanding of the time period.Here is one that looks very interesting. I would grab a copy but they only have the expensive leather bound edition. It has updated english for readability and the original margin notes.

I have that Bible, it is my "church" Bible. They use ESV in church, so I like having a different translation for comparison. The notes are helpful as well.Here is one that looks very interesting.
