You are correct, I no longer believe in Christianity, but in exiting this faith, I did a lot more research than merely consider the argument I presented in the original post. My exit took years, actually, and it involved retaking courage to get through the fear that Christianity presents (eternal Hell, promise of heaven) and having an honest look at it. Intellectually honest, and experientialy honest. It wasn't simply one argument, but a tidal wave of them.

That isn't to say there isn't good things about Christianity - some of it's teachings, I mean. "Love your neighbor as yourself"and "do unto others as you would have them do unto you" are still very good general moral advice. I recognize, however, they didn't originate from Christ, these directives actually have earlier dates. Christianity borrowed them. Much like Judaism borrowed from the Legend of Sargon of Akkad when formulating the Moses birth story.

You can theorize and theologize the text. However, in my argument here, I'm only referring to the supposed words of Jesus that Christians call "the word of God". Christians frequently engage in what they call "apologetics" to get out of problems the bible presents, and while some of these apologetics could possibly have merit, many are simply sly and deceitful misdirections. Take Christ's last words on the cross before he dies, for instance. When "apologizing" for this (the 3 different versions presented in the Gospels)...all of a sudden Christians will change the meaning of "last words" as if they apply across a larger time frame rather than being last words.

In other words. 1,2,3,4,5,6 - in this sequence everyone knows 6 is the last if reading from left to right. But if it's 5 or 1 in a different version of "God's Word" - then all of a sudden no one knows what the last digit actually is. This is the kind of apologetics that require mental gymnastics and clear intellectual dishonesty. I'm glad to be leaving that behind.

I was brought up in this faith. Yes, I believed as a young person. I went to church on my own as a young man. I actually met my wife arguing for this faith (she is deceased). People who know this user name know I used to post at Christian Forums, which I wouldn't have joined had I not had a connection to Christianity. I did not always list as a Deist. That was a designation I took for this MB, because I could see my growing skepticism (particularly with Saul/Paul) separated me, at least to some extent, out of mainstream Christianity.

I know exactly what it is. It is a religion of control, based on belief. A person is born with a debt to the Jew God Yahweh/Jehovah for which he/she must believe in a sacrifice to guarantee him "salvation" from an eternal Hell or guarantee him an eternal Paradise if he/she submits.

It is a TRANSACTIONAL religion where one "earns" their "salvation" in the afterlife by either belief or action (depending on the flavor of Christianity - Catholic or Protestant).

It was FORCED on the European People. Through inquisitions, torture and other methods.

Just a couple of extra thoughts that floated through my mind while I was drifting in and out of sleep.

If I was able to heal the sick, raise the dead etc through a power that belonged to me and worked according to my will, you can be sure I'd be quite happy to demonstrate it to any film crew that would show up. It would be quite a nice money spinner - who needs expensive and distressing medical procedures when you can go and visit this one guy who, for a very reasonable price, will make all your ailments disappear overnight. The price wouldn't even need to be that reasonable - can you imagine the market for someone who could make the lame walk with just a touch, who could make diseases like cancer and MS go away in an instant? If all that was down to me and my own power you'd be able to spot my car in the parking lot from a mile off - it would be a legendary hypercar, customised beyond what you could even imagine.

But when the idea is to give the glory to God, and the power comes from God and therefore isn't a plaything to use to make a fortune for myself, it's not about me. I don't want a film crew because the film crew is going to want to focus on me. The film crew isn't going to want to hear a sermon about awkward stuff like repenting, taking up your cross and doing what someone else tells you to do.

Personally I don't ever want to see words like "international ministries" after my name. That's the kind of thing that so easily makes people feel like they are special, and the focus shifts from God onto the person, which in turn provides breeding grounds for things like pride and greed. That's not a good place for a ministry to go.

I never claimed to be "regenerated". I claimed to be a believer, which I was. I actually still believe in a fair amount of Divine Law the bible happens to spell out in "revealed words of God" - but which I actually know is simply appropriated from other cultures where it was also sometimes "revealed" to their god or gods. Christianity is a copy cat religion, and so is Judaism. It takes Divine law and points to "saviors" (First Moses, then Jesus) that it can control.

Have you gotten your manhood snipped yet? Matthew 19:12. If people like me were in power Christians would be forced to obey these words of Christ, if they wanted to claim Jesus as their savior.

You know what I already know, without researching the band members? The composers and performers are all Nordic. Not Africans, not Indians, not Chinese. Not mixed. Nordic. Not just on the Theme of the music - but the talent, creativeness and level of skill.

If it's a waste of time, why are you wasting your time in this thread quoting and responding? Can you not see the hypocrisy of your own actions/words?

I never claimed to be "regenerated". I claimed to be a believer, which I was. I actually still believe in a fair amount of Divine Law the bible happens to spell out in "revealed words of God" - but which I actually know is simply appropriated from other cultures where it was also sometimes "revealed" to their god or gods. Christianity is a copy cat religion, and so is Judaism. It takes Divine law and points to "saviors" (First Moses, then Jesus) that it can control.

Have you gotten your manhood snipped yet? Matthew 19:12. If people like me were in power Christians would be forced to obey these words of Christ, if they wanted to claim Jesus as their savior.

Well at least you admit you never were a real Christian. A real Christian isn't just a "believer". That would be called a nominal Christian. A real Christian is spiritually regenerated or born again and they know God exists. So thank you for being honest and vindicating why my position to not waste time talking to you is the valid one. In my experience on Christian themed message boards, going back...oh....30ish years or so, comments like this one are par for the course. As are constant wondering over what it "really means" to be "saved" etc. Every person is competing for the place of "god's chosen" and "god's real Christian". You are no different. Just another "anonymous member" (join date 2025) with whatever agenda and ego you're promoting. Good luck with that. How satisfying is it to be a True Scottsman?
