My calendar shows today as Easter Monday. Is there something special about today except that some people get the day off work?

Historically, there have been Bible readings and prayers set aside for worship services on Eastern Monday and also Easter Tuesday. Among Protestants, only the Anglican and Lutheran churches have included them in their prayerbooks in recent years.

It depends on where exactly you live. In the UK, Easter Monday is classed as a Bank Holiday. Bank Holiday usually consists of closed banks and shops running a "Sunday Service" with limited trading hours (10 am-4pm). Most people work a bank holiday. You'll be lucky to get the day off here, even if it's religious.
