Does being a Christian make you feel better? Some people, like those in Afghanistan might not feel so good about being a Christian right now when their lives are in danger. But what about you?

I don't think your faith should be tied into your feelings. Doing so is a recipe for disaster as your beliefs should be what they are because they are true not because of how they make you feel. They will never know what their faith is until it has been thrown into the "furnace" and the Afghanistan situation will be the test to see whether what comes out of that proverbial furnace is either a genuine faith in God or a pile of ashes.

Yes. It's not just feelings. The Church provides a community I wouldn't otherwise have. I believe the Church is the most concrete presence of the Kingdom of God.

I am really concerned when I see descriptions of churches and people's experience with them in CF. (Posting volume here isn't high enough to get that kind of sampling.) I think many churches are failing at this primary responsibility. All the doctrine in the world won't help if the Holy Spirit isn't here.

Yes.

My faith gives me comfort, hope, courage.... it gives me a relationship very, very precious to me - with God our Father and all the brothers and sisters in Christ....I have a strong (and constant) sense of Christ's presence with me... and much more.

I agree with hedrick that faith is not in essence "feeling" and need not have any "feeling" aspect to it. But in my case, it does.

I was born in a fairly non-religious household. My dad had an antiorgangized (might be a strong word) religion mindset. Although he wouldn’t restrict any of us following our own paths. Now I was born in Utah but moved to SoCal when I was 3 or 4 so that’s where I was initially culturalized, if you will, as a youngster. We moved back to Utah when I was 9 which was a complete culture shock. I was baptized as an infant but didn’t officially dedicate my life to Christ until I was 30 y/o. That was back in 1990 or 91 and I was at that time the only in both my family and friends that was an unapologetic Christian. Which has and still does cause me to be ostracized not only by Mormons but now the LGBTQ+ community and I’m not militant about my beliefs but I’ll not shrink from them either.

So back to the question of this thread ‘Yes and here I stand’,
