Not to call out a member here but I was just thinking about this.

The Gospel gives us the Savior and forgiveness. Unbelievers find it foolishness. Christians find joy and peace in it. For Christians, it will never make us uncomfortable.

So if you're stating something from scripture and a Christian gets uncomfortable with it, that's not the Gospel you're proclaiming but Law. Law makes us uncomfortable. The Gospel does not.

Do you agree that Christ gave us commands to follow? If so do you not believe that those who love me will obey me? Is that not Law as well but Law we are supposed to follow? Repentance and forgicveness is very good but at what point do we as followers of Christ become responsoble for our actions or lack thereof?

If something makes me uncomfortable it can be accusation or it's just the Word that works like a two edged sword and cuts things away, which isn't really comfortable lol.

Some here say the opposite. Some say that the gospel is too free, too gratuitous thus making some uncomfortable because they cannot inject "self" into it.

For me the grace of God is unmitigated good news. The law of love is very good news indeed. The commandment to love one another as Christ loves the faithful is sweet goodness distilled three times over. There is nothing fearful, uncomfortable, bad in the news that Christ loves us and sheds that love in our hearts.

He command sus to care for the poor the widows, to heal deliver and set free. It seems to me that the church as a whole is not doing very well with these yet they are commandments of Christ

I think nowadays that would just mean the poor. Widows here have more than enough with their own income and one extra.

EGO makes people hate the Gospel, because it means we NEED to be saved and we cannot save ourselves - GOD must do it.

Those with huge egos are offended by the Gospel.

Some (with egos the size of Jupiter) claim they have ceased to sin - and thus are offended by the idea that THEY now need mercy, grace, the Gospel, the Savior, the Cross, the Blood.
Some (with egos the size of Saturn) claim that while they have sin, all they need is sufficient TIME and HELP from God so that can clean up their act - but THEY don't need no Christ or Savior or mercy (the soteriology of Bhatki Hinduism)

Christian Theology is founded on Law and Gospel as two seperate, powerful messages:

Law: we are fallen, sinful, disobedient who should DIE

Gospel: God has supplied The Savior (not helper!) who has saved us - all because of God's unconditional love and mercy, because of THE Savior, because of CHRIST's obedience, CHRIST'S sacrifice, CHRIST'S heart, CHRIST's Cross, CHRIST'S Blood, CHRIST'S life, CHRIST'S death, CHRIST'S resurrection.

Those too egotistical to accept the Law ergo are offended by the Gospel. Rejecting one always results in rejecting the other.

That's Law too.

You're right that there are people who don't do enough for their neighbors. But that's not the Gospel.

Does the offense you're saying the Gospel brings to some because they don't see their sin equal discomfort because their faith isn't grasping onto the Savior enough?

Those who have EGOS way too big conclude that THEY (perhaps uniquely among the 7.3 billion people) have met the Law (ALWAYS because they have changed the Law to near nothingness - "I've stop banging my toy on the refrig so now I'm perfect" to essentially quote one of our regulars here). God is pleased with them. God approves of them. They have ceased sin ("sin" of course having been reduced to near nothing). "I don't need no Savior - I have nothing to be saved from!" I don't sin - I don't need no forgiveness, mercy, grace!" Rare is the one who actually is SO egotistical to state it that way (but we've seen it even here at CH) but that's the whole basis of their religion.

Their Jupiter size ERGO means they are offended by the idea that they NEED the SAVIOR. Offended that THEY anyway HAVE the SAVIOR. What an insult to their goodyness! Now some..... less egotistical..... who realize they still (occasionally, unwillingly) do a very minor slip up every now and then (kinda, sorta "sin" in a very, very, very small sense) welll.... THEY don't need mercy or the SAVIOR they just need a little help from a Friend (insert Beatles song here)..... some HELP and some TIME to clean up their own act (the soteriology of Bhatki Hinduism).... not the SAVIOR (how offensive!!!!) but all they need is a little extra TIME and some divine HELP to clean up their act.

YEARS ago, there was a famous boxer named Muhammed Ali - known for his absurd, laughable ego. There was a joke (I'm not not true) about him at the time. Supposedly, he boarded a plane and soon was told to put on his seat belt for the take off. He did not. The plane was about to leave and he was the only one to not have on his seat belt. Again, the flight attendant came by and asked if he would please put on his seat belt. He said to her, "Superman don't need no seat belt." To which she said "Superman don't need no airplane either!" Ah..... people with such laughable egos conclude they don't need no Gospel, no mercy, no SAVIOR - the very idea offends them. Either they are Superman and are sinless (because "sin" has been redefined to mean nothing) OR maybe THEY just need a little TIME and HELP so they can clean up their own act (easy since sin is such a small thing) but they don't need no SAVIOR (what a silly, offensive, flaming suggestion!!!!!!)

The gospel is the good news that we can repent and He saves us. What else is the gospel? What gospel do you bring a practicing homosexual who cried out to God to set him free when he was 11 but it didn't work? Oh Jesus loves you. It doesn't matter what you do. But I want to get rid of it! Sorry not possible. Great gospel.
All this hypergrace gospel stuff is nice and dandy for people who don't really live in sin and don't even know what it is to be bound. The gospel is great news. He can set you free from your prison.

I love the Gospel of Jesus as well and that's because it relieves me of the burden of salvation since He won that pardon for me and I get to be with God for all eternity. That's not uncomfortable to me at all.

Why would it? What makes me uncomfortable is this insistance on speerating gospel and Law for one does not exist witjhout the other. They are intertwined and splitting them apart is wrong

When my dad visited church sporadically he'd get a red face from anger. That was years ago, not saved, sharp preaching on sin and that you had to convert. Afterwards my ex said: I preached well. Your dad's face got all red lol.
