The engagement ring I bought my wife was just a simple gold band. The wedding ring a second band with a small diamond. She ever only wears the plain band because the diamond part sticks out and catches on things. To me a simple band is practical and glorifies God in it's simplicity.

I know of a couple who had tattoo rings, which is a very practical thing from the standpoint of a mechanic or anyone working around machinery, since rings can catch in a machine and cause an injury.

I don't believe the bible speaks of an engagement ring?

I think the Amish do not wear rings at all (or any other jewelry), considering it foo showy and they do not want to attract attention to them selves as it would not be considered humble.

While wedding and engagement rings are not in the Bible, it seems to me that as in any purchase one can glorify God by making a wise purchase, so in my mind, a guy should not take out a loan for say $10,000 to buy a super awesome ring. Well, super awesome to some, not to me. To me, anything beyond the plain gold band is superfluous.

Huh?

Buying an engagement ring is a simple process. You hand over the money and the jeweler hands over the ring ("money" may mean cash, check or credit card).

All the suggestions shall obey God's will and respect God's words. Solomon told us in Proverbs 5:18:"Faithfulness in marriage brings a person exuberance and joy. No sin, including adultery, is hidden from God." First, you need to set a reasonable budget and confirm the customization time of a ring to ensure it won't miss your proposal. For the selection of rings, the meaning of rings is very important; make sure you know the meaning. For example, DR ring, is a store that can only customize a ring for the only love in lifetime, which means a thoroughly considered marriage and loyalty. Vancleef, which is with romantic love stories, for its brand story comes from a love story.

"You will ask a woman to connect her life to yours in the rest of days. Make sure your heart on the right position." First, we have to confirm that marriage is God's will. It demands us loyalty to marriage, for marriage is a lifetime commitment. Please remember, when you decide to propose to a woman, you must devote all your sincerity and love to her, which is the key to making things go successfully and smoothly

I hope you're not here to push DR rings?

It is so easy to say, "I just love the Lord". And, it sounds so spiritual. You love Jesus.

Peter evidenced the same as did all the disples. (Matt. 26:35) Yet Peter and all the rest denied Jesus. (Matt. 26:69-25) (Mark 14:29-31)

But...in the end, when Jesu;s was dying on the Cross...what disciple was there? (John 19:26-27) The disciple whom Jesus loved. And who was he? John. (John 21:20-24)

Throughout the book of (John) he describes himself as the 'disciple whom Jesus loved'. (John 13:23, 19:26, 20:2, 21:7, 21:20, 21:24)

In the end, the one who followed Christ to the end, was the one who knew he was loved by Jesus. Love begats love. Jesus doesn't love you becaue you love Him. You love Him, because He loves you. (1 John 4:10,19)

One cannot say, truthfully, that they love God, unless they know the love of God towards them first.

Judging by the opening post it seems there may be more and less Godly ways of handing over money to buy something. I wonder if the same applies elsewhere. Perhaps the way I hand over my credit card in the grocery store could be more pious.

It's not as "showy" as whipping out a wad of dollar bills and counting them off, one by one, eh? ;)

True, but counting a pile of $1 bills might not be considered very loving to the people in line behind me. Especially at Aldi where despite having multiple tills present only one is ever open.

That's absolutely true and was the idea I was trying to express. I also had the feeling that I hadn't worded that reply as well as I could have.

I just hope you're counting the dollars, and the dimes, in a way that is suitably honoring to God. I'd hate to think someone was counting in a way that dishonored God. I'm not sure what that would look like but, you know...
