I now drink de caff coffee black and have no problem sleeping now.. I used to drink normal coffee with milk, never was much of a fan for coke and really not a fan of mountain dew etc.. it has so much sugar in it.. you could try the diet version if you have to drink it ..

I don't like coke and don't like diet drinks in general - I'd rather have sugar than chemical concoctions designed to trick my body into thinking it's got sugar when it hasn't. When I decided to cut down on my sugar intake (it's terrifying how much you can consume when the waitress brings you a fresh glass of drink every time you get to the last inch or two) I switched to drinking unsweetened iced tea. It took a little while to get used to but thankfully I made the switch during a blisteringly hot summer and found it was more thirst quenching than fizzy drinks anyway.

I tried decaff coffee and found I just didn't like it as much, so if I want a drink at night I have herbal tea.

I used to always diet with diet drinks, diet cheese, diet jam, diet everything. Since I stepped over to sugar and fat lol my body doesn't complain anymore and I don't have to diet anymore. I was much fatter when I used that diet nonsense. It can't be healthy.

Doctors (in various studies) say that diet drinks stimulate hunger more than sugary drinks. Sugary drinks rot teeth though so that is a consideration too.

My daughter was here with us for 2 months and said she had a hard time sleeping...it's because it was too quiet at my house and neighborhood! She's used to having a lot of people in the house sleeping at various times so there is always noise and add to that traffic on the streets whereas we have a small neighborhood and everyone sleeps at the same time! LOL

My nephew who served in Afghanistan and Iraq loves to come here and sleep because it's so quiet. It calms him.

Hotrhymez, maybe you could experiment to see if more quiet helps you sleep or more noise?

I drink a homeopathic tea of lavender and chamomile when I can't sleep. And yes playing the audio Bible helps me to sleep too.

Chamomile tea is super relaxing! I used to drink it before I found out tea closes up my throat. I'm glad I can still use lavender lotion though because that scent is calming.
I went out and got some chamomile tea and it is helping me :)

Warm milk or just chat night in night out so you fall asleep on the couch at 11 like I did yesterday.

I only sleep about 5 hours at night now must be either my internal time clock has gone wrong or I'm getting the old people thing of not sleeping long... I sometimes feel better sleeping when it gets light than in the dark, maybe I think I'm going to die at night eh... lol

It could be that 5 hours is all you need? My husband doesn't need a lot of sleep during the week but he naps all weekend long. I NEED 9 hours of sleep to feel great!

9 hours?! Wow that would be great. I get 8 hours maybe once a year and would love to get that regularly.

What do you do when you have trouble sleeping? Lately I have been awake a lot and its annoying,

Late at night a light meal of something easy to digest - maybe some cereal - and maybe a hot drink (in winter) can help make me sleepy.

PS: avoid caffeinated drinks :)

When I worked I would only get 6 hours at times and I have a hard time functioning day after day on that. My body really needs more for me to feel right both physically and mentally. I'm fortunate that I was able to quit and now I clean my house ALL the time!

Do you nap on weekends?

Lately I've been able to take naps on the weekends but for the longest time I just wouldn't fall asleep.
