That's the way believers in Works Righteousness reason. The atheist doesn't believe in God but he lives an otherwise good and charitable life while the Christian who really believes in Jesus nevertheless gives in to sin repeatedly, so....

Seeing our failures repeatedly means that the Law is doing its job. That's when we have to stop looking at ourselves and turn to the cross and KNOW that Jesus forgives our sins. He was the perfectly obedient lamb who died and was risen. We shall rise with Him too.
