Have you ever wondered why the creation story of heaven and earth is so short in the Bible? Only the first two chapters cover the creation of basically everything we know. I was looking at verse 24 of chapter 1 of Genesis and it says that God said "Let the land produce living creatures. . . ." I would kinda like to know more about that. How did the land produce living creatures? I know the Bible is not a book of science, but has science in it, but I just wonder if it doesn't deserve more than two chapters.

IMO, the creation story/stories in Gen 1 and 2 are simply to underline that God is the Creator, a point made often in Scripture.

...and it was a look back in time. The main purpose of the early part of the OT was to set up what was to follow in the story of Man's relationship with God, etc.

By combining verse 24 with verse 25, it's readily seen that God created the living
creatures from the earth's soil just as He created Man per Gen 2:7. In other words;
the soil itself didn't actually make anything, it was simply used as a construction
material.

BTW:The Hebrew word translated "produced" is horribly ambiguous. It has a large
variety of meanings for expressing it in English.

If you keep reading, it specifically says God Himself created the living creatures...

Gen 1:25
25
And God made the beast of the earth after his kind, and cattle after their kind, and every thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind: and God saw that it was good.
KJV

So in reality, the creatures coming forth from the land verse is a 'result' of God having created them first. And the 25th verse confirms that order.

Gen 1:24
24 And God said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind: and it was so.
KJV

Therefore, that does not prove that living creatures 'evolved' out of water like modern biology falsely teaches. It does not point to Darwinism at all.

No, I never said it did teach evolving like Darwinism. I was just curious about why so little is said about this. I would have liked to know more about it, but scripture is shockingly brief about it

There are a lot of things we would like to know more about, but they are just not the point of the scripture. I would like to know more about what happened to each Disciple and Apostles, what happened to Mary. I would love to know more details on the life of Solomon and Noah, and a whole host of other new and old testament people.....but those are not the purpose of the scriptures.

But I agree, it would be nice for clarification on some, nay a lot of things....but lacking that exact clarity we should all probably take a step back from the "this is how it was" statements about things that are not salvific.

*Edit*
I know there is a lot of extra-Biblical material that is out there that helps "answer" some of these questions, but they are not scripture.

I think it's helpful and important to keep the PURPOSE of the Bible clearly in mind. It's not a "Q&A" book or an encyclopedia ... it's not interested in just supplying info (although it sometimes does, including the exact number of fish caught in a net, LOL). The Bible has two purposes 1) to show us the will of God (Law) and to show us the heart of God (Gospel). John summarizes his purposes by writing, “that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God and that by believing we have life in Him." (John 20:30–31).

Occasionally other things are revealed but only to bolster those two things - Law and Gospel.

And when other things are brought up (often very incompletely), it's true and important - just not really the purpose at hand, it's there to support the Law and/or Gospel involved.

Why would wanting to know what's in God's Power to create the animal kingdom be so important? Moses said God created, and that's enough for me. I don't have to know 'how' just so I can try to fight off evolutionists who try to claim knowledge of God's Power when they don't have a clue.

When Bible was written it was so long time ago people didn't have technology and knowledge as we do today. Also, how can God explain to farmers how DNA works? How can he explain the making of something out of nothing? It is a representation of his divine power that can't be put into words which humans could understand.

I heard once that we should go as far as the Bible goes and then stop. I have a lot of questions when I meet Jesus, but I don't think that I will want to ask them in his powerful presence.
