We very seldom use candles. We have a candlelit Christmas Eve service, and usually have candles during Advent but I think that's about it.

Two on the altar is customary, although some other parishes adhere to the Medieval style with six.
By tradition, they should be primarily beeswax, but I don't know how often that rule is maintained these days.

We have a baptismal candle up front that is lit on certain occasions, we have 2 altar candles that are lit every Sunday and then we also have 2 other candles on the altar that are lit right before Holy Communion.
