How many ceiling fans do you have?

Do you change the fan rotation for Summer vs Winter?

We don't use our ceiling fans in the winter at all, so we don't change the rotation. I don't like feeling that cool breeze when I'm already cold. We have a ceiling fan in every one of our 4 bedrooms as well as the family room and den (craft room, spare bedroom with no closet). I just hired someone earlier this year to replace two of the fans because they were making noises and I didn't know if it was an electrical issue. He had it all done in an hour and they're quiet now.

The claim is that using the fan in winter forces the warmer air downwards where you want it during the winter. But you have to reverse the rotation of the fan blades from the setting used during summer, clockwise vs counterclockwise, which I'm assuming that your fans will accommodate. Naturally, how fast--how much breeze you want--is a personal choice.

We have six installed and another four in storage so I can fit them when the rooms that will take them are finished. I wanted to get them before the price went any higher and also make sure I could actually get matching fans.

In the bedroom we sometimes blow air gently upwards in the winter. In the study/den we usually only use the fan when it's really warm. The spare bedroom doesn't get a whole lot of use but if we have overnight guests they do whatever they need.

Downstairs we only use fans in the summer. Usually in three adjacent rooms the fans blow down/up/down to keep air from the air conditioning circulating.

We have a total of 4. We don't change rotation as in the winter time if we need it, it is for cooling as it does not get too cold here. We mainly use the one in the living room and master bedroom.

I have one in just about every room. I guess you can say I’m a “fan” of them. 😂

I have one in each of two bedrooms and the dining nook. I wish I could put one in the kitchen but my place is wired very strangely, with two lights in the kitchen about 3' apart, and no ceiling lights in the living room at all. If I put one in the kitchen, the other light will flash every time a blade moves in front of it. That would be worse than a dripping faucet.

None. I just open the balcony door or I use a table fan if it's really hot.

Could you take the bulb out of it?

I need light more than air. My ceiling fans have lights too, but not enough for my kitchen, so it's either cooler and dark or bright and stale. lol. I have a heat pump so it's cool in here without fans. I just like the air circulation and slight breeze.

Fair enough. I think I'd look into moving the lights to add a fan but if you're not comfortable with electrics it could be a bit spendy to pay someone to do the work.
