I had a gift certificate for Amazon so I purchased a cast iron pizza pan and today I seasoned it (it was pre-seasoned but I wanted to make it better) and then used it for the first time. It was so good! I made a pepperoni pizza and even though I split my dough into 2 sections and made it too thin, the flavor was incredible and the crust was crunchy. Plus, I could use the pizza cutter to cut the slices in the pan and leave the other slices to stay hot while we ate.

Did you have to pre-heat the pan?
How wide and how thick is it?
And how heavy?
What shape?

I did pizza for 14 years - NY Village style...

Nice pan -

I would have thought that by the time the pan heated in the oven (@450?) with the pizza in it, the top would be cooked before the bottom started to cook...
With a yeast dough and some flour, you can stretch a dough and drop it into at least a pre-warmed pan, adding toppings with it on a medium heat stove top burner...
Did the bottom brown up nicely, or just the edges?

The bottom was crispy and browned perfectly! I was impressed but the oil helped a lot.

One thing I did differently that helped was I had a bag of mixed cheddar and swiss shredded cheese that I added just a bit on before I added the Mozzarella. It really gave a good taste to the pizza!

LOL I should have taken a pic of the pizza but we were too quick to gobble it up! Plus, the other slices stayed HOT in the pan. So that was new for us. The pizza cutter didn't mar the surface at all either and the pan stores nicely in the bottom warming tray of the oven.

When the cutter dulls, it sharpens nicely and easily by holding it at an angel that both sharpens and spins it against a fine high rpm (1750) sharpening wheel at about 100 grit...

What ruins my pizza cutter is having the 2 left-handed people in the house try to use it LOL

I like mine with sausage green pepper and onion. Cast iron is the way to go on fried foods, only way I will cook a steak other than on a grill

I use my cast iron skillet for steaks all the time. Clean up isn't as fun as other pans because the pan is so heavy!

If it gets too wonky it can be repaired fairly readily with a hammer and a rock...

A fairly solid rock...

Set the pin head on which the wheel rotates against the rock...

Make sure it is stable there...

An anvil is better but who has one? (besides me - I have several)

Then sharply begin rapping the visible side of the pin with the hammer...

Test it for tightness as you continue hammering...

Until is still turns freely bud does not flop so much as it was...

Left handed pizza cutting people...
Richly deserve what they are going to get*...
When I get done with them...
:):):)

My favorite is Pepperoni, Mushroom and Sausage (with extra cheese)...

Ya gotta be a little careful with ordering it...

Initials alone are not a good idea...

And it has to be Italian Sausage...

I ate pizza daily for 14 years...

Never tired of it...

Breakfast pizza puts an egg on a slice of sausage and mushroom...

I like Pepperoni the best. Where we used to live they had Quad City style pizza with finely crumbled ground sausage and that was so good but no one makes it where I live now so we have to do it. It's a lot of work though. At Marco's Pizza I used to love ordering green olives and mushrooms but no one carries green olives anywhere out here for me to order it on a pizza.

We should give this a try. IMO we don’t have any good pizza joints here.

I made the dough using the package of Pizza yeast and there is no rising necessary so it's easy. I guess you could always buy frozen dough as well? I like Don Pepino pizza sauce the best! I sprinkle some Chef Paul Magic Herbal Pizza and Pasta Seasoning on that and it gives it a kick.
