I'm looking at some sheet music my church has for Good Friday to sing a solo. It calls Jesus My Lord, but also calls Him My Love. What do you think about that? Is it too close to the Jesus is my boyfriend type of music? I'm not so sure because it doesn't go on to gush about the love, but concentrates on His crucifixion.

I wouldn't think so, especially given what you said about the rest of the lyrics.

and then there's this--
Matt 22:37-38
And he said to him, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment...."

Hard to say without the context of it.

My first thought was that it falls into the idea of Jesus being a homeboy/boyfriend figure, which for me is an early warning of a song that's probably theological garbage. But as Albion said we are told to love God, so if the rest of the lyrics focus more on God it may be OK. If the rest of the lyrics are all about me and lots of lovey-dovey gushing, maybe put it in the proverbial round file in the corner.
