How are the holy angels helpful to Christians?

Psalm 91:11, 12

He shall give His angels charge over thee to keep thee in all thy ways. They shall bear thee up on their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.

Matthew 18:10, 11

“See that you do not look down on one of these little ones. For I tell you that their angels in heaven always see the face of my Father in heaven.”

Luke 16:22

The beggar died and was carried by the angels into Abraham’s bosom.

Abraham’s bosom is Paradise or heaven. They didn’t carry his body because that was put in the ground. Death is the soul leaving the body so his soul was carried by the angels to heaven.

This shows that the angels not only watch over us when we’re alive, but when we’re dead as well!

Luke 15:10

“In the same way, I tell you, there is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.”

And to which of the angels has he ever said,

“Sit at my right hand
until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet”?

Are they not all ministering spirits sent out to serve for the sake of those who are to inherit salvation? (Hebrews 1:13-14)

Most angels are in the masculine sense, but there is one instance of female in Zechariah 5:9.
Greetings in Christ JESUS, sister

Zechariah 5:9 - Then lifted I up mine eyes, and looked, and, behold, there came out two women, and the wind was in their wings; for they had wings like the wings of a stork: and they lifted up the ephah between the earth and the heaven.

Interpreting: --> 9 Then lifted I up mine eyes, and looked, and, behold, there came out two women(two Churches -Gentile Church-Colossians 1:24, and Jewish Church-Hebrews 12:23) and the wind(the angel of the Lord) was in their wings(Gabriel or Michael); for they had wings like the wings of a stork(by analogy or even allegory see Revelation 12:14 combined with Isaiah 60:8): and they lifted up the ephah between the earth and the heaven (heaven?Ephesians 1:3-8)

That's how I interpret it having the Word of GOD as the source of interpretations, but you can improve the interpretation preferably through the Word of our GOD..

God bless

About twenty five years ago I woke up around midnight to find something floating over me. It wasn't formed and it also was not formed. It was something yet it was nothing like I had ever seen. It was and still is nearly impossible to describe. I realized I wasn't sleeping so I started yelling at the entity to leave me alone while at the same time swatting at it with my arms and hands flailing. This startled my wife who was laying next to me. This went on for another thirty seconds or so then I jumped up and turned on the light and the entity disappeared. We went back to steep.

About 6 am that morning we woke up to the phone ringing. It was my wife's mother informing us that my wife's best friend had died from cancer about midnight. Was this entity our friend who had just died of cancer? I certainly think so. Did our friend transition to an angel and was saying goodbye on her way to heaven? She was a devout follower of Jesus in her mid-30s who left behind three children and a husband. She may have left others behind, but she made an everlasting impact on me.

Cancer, among many other malignant diseases, is a way for the Devil to mortally wound people.

On the other hand, he is also skilled and even transforms himself into an angel-2 Corinthians 11:13-15.

As for the number 30, it always appears to identify betrayal or betrayers-Matthew 28:9.

When we die, we don't become angels. Angels are created beings.

I go to the authority:

24 Jesus answered them, “Isn’t this because you are mistaken, not knowing the Scriptures, nor the power of God? 25 For when they will rise from the dead, they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are like angels in heaven. (Matthew 12:24-25)

All English translations agree that Jesus stated we will be "like" or "as" angels in heaven. We are created beings that will be similar to the angels in heaven if we believe when we die.

We won't become angels, no scripture supports that. Instead, we will have new bodies.

So you don't believe the words of Jesus in Matthew? You don't believe that we will be like angels in heaven? You don't believe that my wife's best friend appeared to me looking like a spirit immediately after she died?

Why do you believe that you will get a new body rather than taking the form of an angel like Jesus said?

Matthew does not say we WILL be angels. Just that we will be like them and that means that we get to be near God, serving Him, like they are.

I never said we will be angels. Jesus said we will be like angels and I believe that. How are we different? That’s above my pay grade.

At my church, we recently went through a bible study on angels and demons. I left my papers at church in my folder, but I'm still exploring the topic more at home. I have a file from a study a pastor I met online gave to me many years ago, so I'm looking through that now.

One thing that was brought up is that Jesus didn't die for the angels. The good angels are "holy", so they don't need Jesus to die for them and as for the fallen angels, we know that they don't repent in the end. Jesus did not die for them either, He died for mankind.

I'll be adding more things to this thread, but others are welcome to add too.
Thats correct

I don't interpret the idea of 'angels' to mean a specie of heavenly being, but instead a simple reference to the heavenly state...

Jesus said...

Matt 22:30
30 For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage,
but are as the angels of God in heaven.
KJV

The idea of cherubim or seraphim does point to specie. Lucifer was a covering cherub per the parable of Ezekiel 28.

The Angel of The LORD was a title used for Christ in The Old Testament. We know Lord Jesus is not an Angel in the sense of a specie, but instead in the sense of Messenger at times to the Old Testament patriarchs. This is another reason why we should not assign the word angel as being a certain specie of heavenly being.

In Genesis 6 and the Book of Job the angels that rebelled are called "sons of God". All Old Testament references to the "sons of God" is about those specific angels that rebelled, the ones who rebelled originally with Lucifer, and then those angels which rebelled in Noah's day per Genesis 6. In Job 38:7 when God made His creation, all the "sons of God" sang for joy, so that points to all the angels in the same status prior to Lucifer's rebellion.

In John 1:12, those who receive Jesus Christ as The Savior, He has given them the power to become the "sons of God". And in 1 John 3:2, John says now we are the "sons of God", but it does not yet appear what we shall be, but when Jesus appears we know we shall be like Him (i.e., like His present heavenly state).

The way that makes me understand that "sons of God" phrase is that it is a heavenly reference to God's Salvation through His Son Jesus Christ. It originally applied to all the angels before Lucifer rebelled, so it points to living with God in Eternity, before sin, but also in final once death, sin, and all wickedness is destroyed, and the new heavens and a new earth is established for the righteous.

This confuses me, how do you explain the Biblical accounts where angels are said to have interacted with men in a manner that indicates they are some type of individual physical beings?

Are you referring to the "sons of God" of Genesis 6 in the time of Noah?

Or maybe Bible events like this...

Gen 18:1-8
18
And the LORD appeared unto him in the plains of Mamre: and he sat in the tent door in the heat of the day;
2 And he lift up his eyes and looked,
and, lo, three men stood by him: and when he saw them, he ran to meet them from the tent door, and bowed himself toward the ground,
3
And said, My Lord, if now I have found favour in thy sight, pass not away, I pray thee, from thy servant:
4 Let a little water, I pray you, be fetched, and wash your feet, and rest yourselves under the tree:
5 And I will fetch a morsel of bread, and comfort ye your hearts; after that ye shall pass on: for therefore are ye come to your servant. And they said, So do, as thou hast said.
6 And Abraham hastened into the tent unto Sarah, and said, Make ready quickly three measures of fine meal, knead it, and make cakes upon the hearth.
7 And Abraham ran unto the herd, and fetcht a calf tender and good, and gave it unto a young man; and he hasted to dress it.
8
And he took butter, and milk, and the calf which he had dressed, and set it before them; and he stood by them under the tree, and they did eat.
KJV

Of those "three men" that suddenly appeared at Abraham's tent door, one of them was our Lord Jesus Christ. The other two men were the "two angels" sent to Lot and his family in the next Genesis 19 chapter.

Major Points to Recognize:
1. they had the image of man (which originates from God's Own Image likeness per Gen.1)
2. they were able to eat man's food.
3. Lord Jesus is standing there with Abraham conversing if any righteous be found in Sodom and Gomorrah.

The angelic type body can dwell and live upon this earth; that's one of the Biblical ideas many brethren find difficult to understand. It's not a flesh body, but it must be of some kind of substance in order eat our food.

Heb 13:2
2 Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.
KJV

That Hebrews 13:2 verse reveals that angels do not necessarily have 'wings' on their backs. If they showed up among us with wings on their backs that would certainly blow their cover, and we'd know they were angelic beings. Artists of old purposefully painted wings on the angels they wanted to make sure the viewer was seeing as an angel, and not just as some human floating in the air.

Some of men's doctrines today try to claim that angels when appearing on earth with the image of man, that it means that put on a flesh body. There is no Bible Scripture that proves that idea, but actually plenty of Bible Scripture that disproves it, for Lord Jesus when He appeared to Abraham, He had not yet been born in a flesh body. So no, angels don't need to put on flesh to appear on earth to us with the image of man. Like I said, that image of man originated from GOD's OWN Heavenly IMAGE per Genesis 1:26-27. That includes the angels having that image of man also. Even the Archangel Gabriel's name means 'man of God'.

You become less comprehensible to me with this post, I think I'll just leave it there and avoid probable mystical and linguistic based explanations altogether.

We are feeling different parts of the elephant maybe.
