PART XII — “When the Mechanics Missed the Revival”
The couple returns — and the mechanic department thinks it’s open season.
The couple pulled into the service bay with their Corolla making a noise that sounded like a blender full of marbles. They stepped out, cheerful and calm, holding their binder labeled
“Stewardship & Car Buying — By the Grace of God.”
The mechanics froze.
They whispered among themselves like wolves spotting two lambs who wandered away from the flock.
“Is that them?” “Yep. The clueless couple.” “The ones who didn’t know what APR meant?” “The ones who thought the warranty covered ‘everything except the parts that break’?” “Oh, this is going to be fun.”
They rubbed their hands together.
The head mechanic — a man who had survived on energy drinks and sarcasm for 20 years — strutted over.
“Well, well, well,” he said. “Looks like y’all got yourselves a
serious problem.”
The couple smiled politely.
“We trust the Lord,” they said.
The mechanics exchanged glances.
“Yeah,” the head mechanic muttered, “you’re gonna need Him.”
He pulled out a clipboard and began writing numbers so large they could have been used to calculate the national debt.
“Your alternator is shot.” “Your serpentine belt is shredded.” “Your flux capacitor is leaking.” “Your blinker fluid reservoir is cracked.” “And both your muffler belt and bearings? Gone.”
The couple blinked.
“We don’t think cars have flux capacitors,” they said gently.
The mechanic smirked.
“After your upgrade, they do now.”
He handed them the estimate.
It was… astronomical. Biblical. Revelation‑level.
The couple stared at the paper.
The mechanics snickered.
“Watch this,” one whispered. “They’re gonna faint.”
PART XIII — “The Showroom Staff Finds Out”
The revived dealership hears what the mechanics are doing.
Meanwhile, in the showroom, the salesman‑turned‑deacon was leading a lunchtime devotional titled
“Blessed Are the Honest Salesmen.”
The general manager was organizing a charity event. The finance manager was highlighting verses in Proverbs. The vending machine guy was praying over the snack inventory.
Then the service advisor burst through the door.
“THE MECHANICS ARE RAILROADING THE PRAYER COUPLE!”
The room fell silent.
The salesman dropped his Bible. The general manager gasped. The finance manager whispered, “Not again…” The vending machine guy shouted,
“NOT ON MY WATCH!”
They sprinted toward the service department like a revival team charging into battle.
PART XIV — “The Mechanics Meet the Revival Team”
The showdown in the service bay.
The mechanics were still laughing when the showroom staff arrived.
The salesman pointed dramatically.
“You! Stop writing numbers like Pharaoh wrote decrees!”
The general manager stepped forward.
“This couple flipped our dealership upside down with prayer. You think you can scam them?”
The head mechanic shrugged.
“We didn’t get saved. We were in the back changing brake pads.”
The finance manager raised a finger.
“Well, you’re about to.”
The vending machine guy lifted his hands.
“I feel the Spirit in my kneecaps again!”
The mechanics looked confused.
“What is happening?” one whispered.
PART XV — “The Prayer That Hits the Service Department”
The couple prays — and the mechanic department gets wrecked.
The couple stepped forward.
“We forgive you,” they said softly. “And we’d like to pray for you.”
The mechanics froze.
“No, no, no, no—” “Not the prayer—” “I heard what happened last time—” “Someone hold me—”
But it was too late.
The couple prayed.
Not a quiet prayer. Not a polite prayer. Not a “Lord help these mechanics do better” prayer.
It was a prayer that rolled through the service bay like a holy earthquake.
The diagnostic machines rebooted. The repair estimate recalculated itself to $87.50. The parts inventory system updated with discounts nobody had ever seen. The alternator glowed faintly, as if healed by divine warranty. The blinker fluid reservoir (which didn’t exist) disappeared from the estimate entirely.
The head mechanic dropped his clipboard.
“What… what just happened?”
The salesman smiled.
“The Lord happened.”
The general manager nodded.
“Welcome to the revival.”
The vending machine guy whispered, “I told y’all. Kneecaps.”
PART XVI — “The Service Department Gets Saved”
The mechanics surrender.
The head mechanic fell to his knees.
“I want to give my life to Christ.”
The other mechanics followed.
“Me too.” “Me three.” “I don’t even know what a flux capacitor is anymore— save me.”
Right there, in the middle of the service bay, surrounded by toolboxes, oil stains, and half‑finished brake jobs, the couple led the entire mechanic department in the sinner’s prayer.
And when they finished, the head mechanic stood up, wiped his eyes, and said:
“From now on, we fix cars honestly. And we pray before every oil change.”
The couple smiled.
“Praise the Lord.”
PART XVII — “The Dealership Is Fully Revived”
The final transformation.
The dealership was now completely transformed:
- showroom
- finance
- management
- vending machine guy
- and now…
- the mechanic department
Every part of the dealership had been touched by the Lord.
They hung a sign over the service bay:
“Honest Repairs. Honest Prices. Honest Hearts.”
And on his throne in heaven, the Lord smiled again — the smile of a Father who loves to turn breakdowns into breakthroughs, scams into salvation, and mechanic shops into places where His grace shows up in the most unexpected ways.
