In English speaking lands it's been traditional that at 21 years of age men and women are fully responsible citizens. In the later half of last century many lands choose 18 years of age for that. Is there a biblical basis for an age at which one is a fully adult member of the community?

59 would be a nice age. Guess I'm grown up by then.

Depends on the culture and how children are raised

I think it's stupid you can't marry with 16. They force them to live in sin while some are more mature than I was with 39. Age says nothing.

It wasnt that long ago that it wasnt uncommon to marry at 12 or 13 but then they wre raised to mature quicker rather than playing all the time

Some still play when they're 30. People are so childish that they divorce, yet I spoke to a mature 16 year old and he couldn't get married.

In CIVIL Law, it's probably unavoidable that SOME (probably completely arbitrary) age is set.... It probably doesn't matter a LOT which, although 21 has a long, extensive history in English speaking countries.

In reality, we all know that "maturity" is an extremely subjective and individual thing. I'm 28.... and I know LOTS my age who are very immature; in fact I know some my parent's age who are amazingly immature! And I've met some in their teens whom I consider quite mature. But that's ME doing the evaluating (it IS subjective!). We also all know that "maturity" depends on WHAT. Some 13 year old farm boys are mature enough to drive the farm truck to the silo and maybe even to school.... but maybe not to marry.

Life. Doesn't always fit in nice, universal boxes. But in civil matters..... it's just necessary to create them.

All the Israelites twenty years old or more who were able to serve in Israel’s army were counted according to their families. Numbers 1:45

That sounds pretty mature to me?

20 years to serve in the army in the OT.

What kind of other maturity matters were you thinking of to get biblical basis?

Whatever is in the holy scriptures about the matter. 20 for the army is reasonable - in Australia it is 18 but joining is voluntary drinking is 18 too and voting also. I guess in ancient Israel voting wasn't a big issue, and drinking probably was quite young.

There was a time I thought that 28 was really old. That's a long time ago LOL.

Yes, Jesus was about thirty years of age when he was baptised by saint John the Baptist.
