    Lämmchen's Workout Thread

I had a challenge to run a 10k over the weekend. I wasn't sure if today would be a good day for it, and Sunday definitely won't be, so I ran it yesterday. And it felt good, I maintained a solid pace for the whole thing. I wasn't setting any personal records but worked hard enough to feel good...

So... What are YOU doing? - Part 8

I nearly threw out a branch of a maple tree I salvaged. I took the branch because I thought I might use it, then I saw how small it was and nearly dumped it. But I figured I'd see what I could make with it, and ended up making four small bowls with some really nice markings on them from the...

So... What are YOU doing? - Part 8

Before turning the outside of this huge piece I trimmed a piece from the back of it. Today, having finished my bowl, I made a nightlight holder for my granddaughter. She's visiting from out of state, so I wanted to get it made before she goes home

So... What are YOU doing? - Part 8

Not yet, I'm debating whether it's a sensible proposition to make something out of it or whether it's best to toss it in the burn pile. Today I finished a giant bowl for my wife. It turned out to be slightly under 16" across and 5" deep. Turning the outside created about 15 gallons of shavings...

So... What are YOU doing? - Part 8

I love the colors in black cherry. I have a few more pieces of it. The first piece I made I gave to a guy who helped me out with the delivery of my new lathe. The second piece I tried to make exploded because I made a silly mistake and before I even clocked what I'd done half the bowl was the...

I think you could set the sycamore bowl outside in a tornado and it wouldn't blow away

So... What are YOU doing? - Part 8

This is the black cherry bowl. Not as heavy as the sycamore bowl but pretty chunky. This is the one that caused me lots of problems with catches... https://1drv.ms/i/c/e4e9417d05d2a830/IQCsjCXy9NZ2TrMFkgdk24lDAWiu-4M9fUuiSP5FoivggWo

So... What are YOU doing? - Part 8

Thanks :) It's the sycamore bowl. It feels heavy enough that you could drop kick it into next week and when you caught up it would just be sitting there waiting.

So... What are YOU doing? - Part 8

More wood turning recently. I upgraded my lathe, the new one weighs over 500lb so getting that down the stairs to the basement was an adventure. But it has a lot more power, and can turn bigger things. Yesterday I made a bowl from a chunk of black cherry, today was a big piece of sycamore. While...

    Lämmchen's Workout Thread

Today we had our annual church picnic at the local state park. After the service we got to play on the beach with one of our granddaughters - our daughter brought the youngest with her. The next youngest wanted to stay home, and as her oldest was visiting that was an option. Then I took a walk...

    Lämmchen's Workout Thread

My wife wanted to go for a walk, so we walked a local 10k route. It was a nice day, sunny but not too warm.

    Lämmchen's Workout Thread

Yesterday I finally ticked off my 15k challenge. I wasn't sure how I'd make out - I sometimes struggle in the heat - but it was the coolest day for a while so I figured I'd give it a go and just not pace too hard. This morning my legs aren't liking me very much but I got the run done, and it...

    Lämmchen's Workout Thread

I got another long walk in yesterday, a little under 9 miles. I had to hide under the canopy of a business for a while to let a band of rain pass but after that it was dry.

I got my long walk in, a little over 10 miles in all. By the end my legs were ready to sit down.

    Lämmchen's Workout Thread

I did my run on Thursday and spent much of it wishing I'd walked instead. I gave nearly three hours between lunch and running but my digestion still wasn't happy. I had a challenge to run a 5k over the weekend so I did that yesterday (for the purposes of the challenge Friday counts as weekend)...

    Lämmchen's Workout Thread

Yesterday my suggested workout was a 39 minute base run, which I did. Today's suggestion is the same but we're meeting our daughter for lunch so I may end up walking instead. It's not much fun running with a belly full of breads and meats and cheese.

Yesterday was a walk, today was a run. Yesterday was supposed to be 5 miles but my wife rescued me from an approaching storm after 4 miles. Today I ran a little over 5 miles. It was a good run.

    Lämmchen's Workout Thread

Sometimes it feels like a battle. I don't care much for heat and humidity, when I'm running I breathe through my mouth because I can't get enough air through my nose. The only time I breathe through my nose is on easier downhill sections, when it can help get my system used to working with a bit...
