    Hymns/Songs that don't name God

I think taking things in context might also be the right thing to do. My comment about George Harrison was, as I've already stated, to indicate that song referring to "Lord" (which was explicitly referenced in the OP) doesn't necessarily mean it's talking about the same lord.

    Kneeling at church?

If "in no particular order" counts as a regular order of things then I guess it does.

So... What are YOU doing? - Part 8

Looks like rain today. I've been thinking about how to run cables between all the assorted switches I'm going to need. Previously I'd assumed I'd run them all through the ceilings but now I'm thinking maybe I'll run them down into the basement and across the basement ceiling. I'm not expecting...

    Hymns/Songs that don't name God

Are you really making such a big deal over a small side point? Do forgive me for posting something that is less than 100.000% relevant to every aspect of the original question.

    Kneeling at church?

I guess things you're used to make more sense than things you're not used to, if nothing else. Some churches don't really have a format as such, it alternates between periods of singing, reading, prayer, whatever.

    Knock, knock:

If you just want to get rid of them there are a range of tactics, involving varying degrees of rudeness. They usually come back after a while. If you want to get rid of them more permanently, invite them in. Make them a hot drink and make it so hot they can't immediately drink it. That means...

So... What are YOU doing? - Part 8

I got the rest of my wall framed. It went up faster than I expected. I cut a couple of pieces of wood to use as spacers, which makes it easy to position the studs correctly. Adding a bar across the top made it easy to get the studs into approximate position, and then a long level paired with a...

    Hymns/Songs that don't name God

I know, but the original post mentioned songs that refer to "Lord", and I was simply noting that referring to "Lord" doesn't necessarily mean that the lord in question is a deity we would honor.

    Kneeling at church?

That makes sense. The church near where I grew up was Anglican and had a number of cushions (I think they were called hassocks, but forget because it's been a while) for kneeling. During services there were designated points marked where people were supposed to stand, sit, kneel, sit etc. It all...

    Returning to the moon

Hey, if they're struggling to come up with a new and improved virus on earth why not import one from another planet? HG Wells' musical said "the chances of anything coming from Mars are a million to one, but still they come". He probably never even dreamed that one day we'd be going to Mars to...

    Before phones and the internet,

I'm assuming you're talking about passing the time as a passenger - usually on a long car ride I'm passing the time by looking at the road so I don't drive into anything :) As a child I'd take a book or play games with license plates or sleep. As an adult sometimes I'll sleep in the car, or...

    Kneeling at church?

Thinking about this more, I'm not sure there's even space to kneel between our pews even if you wanted to. We typically bow our heads for prayer.

    Hymns/Songs that don't name God

A lot of the modern drivel isn't even about what we might be doing for God, it's about what we are doing that could be about anything. Some of it doesn't even mean anything at all. I often wondered what, if anything, "you unravel me with a melody" is supposed to mean. Sometimes with the really...

    God Particle

I wouldn't say the media calling something God necessarily means anything at all.

    Swim after Labor Day?

Swimming outdoors is best done when it's warm. Swimming indoors isn't really constrained by the weather. If a pool is heated it doesn't really matter. I swam in an outdoor pool north of the Arctic Circle when there were several inches of snow on the ground. It was lovely in the pool. Not quite...

    Is Birth Control Anti-Christian?

If God designed sex to not be enjoyable he didn't do a very good job of it. On that basis alone I'd say that sex is as much about bringing husband and wife together as it is about making babies.

    What comes to mind...

A lot depends on who is saying that. A now deceased family member used to insist that "he's a good Christian man" when my wife and I tried to point out to her that someone was taking advantage of her. A tradesman charging top dollar for work I could see without even measuring wasn't straight...

    Hymns/Songs that don't name God

Perhaps, but enough people seemed to see the first few sections of it and consider it a Christian song. If you look at some of the more modern drivel that's passed off as worship music it's all about me. I'm doing this, I'm singing that, I won't be shaken, I'm on the way to heaven, blah blah...

    Kneeling at church?

No. Quite a few of the congregation are old enough they'd struggle to get back up again.
