So... What are YOU doing? - Part 8

Picked up a bunch of supplies for rewiring lamps. I bought one that doesn't work (needs rewiring) and stripped it down. Now I just need to replace the wiring and bulb holder and reassemble it. I have a couple of other lamps that need some TLC, and now I have the parts to do it.

    Lämmchen's Workout Thread

It should be sealed against sweat but I guess they need it to break somehow. The battery is definitely more than a month old, I guess I'm used to batteries lasting a year or more it catches me off guard when they don't.

    Lämmchen's Workout Thread

I decided not to make it four in a row yesterday. My suggested workout for the day was "rest", not even a light recovery workout, so I went for a walk with my wife instead. Today I ran my 8-mile route again. My chest strap glitched during the run and gave me silly heart rate readings (if what...

    Collective Guilt

It's a stupid idea. Where does it stop? I am a man. Am I somehow responsible for sex crimes committed by other men? Am I responsible for violence committed by other men? Now we have equally stupid ideas that as a white man I somehow share responsibility for things done before I was even born.

    Lämmchen's Workout Thread

Today I planned a walk rather than a run but my suggested workout was an easy run so I decided to do that instead of a walk. And I managed to keep my speed slower than I have for a while. Not quite as slow as my suggested workout but slow enough that a 10k run still counted as increasing my low...

So... What are YOU doing? - Part 8

After a run and a walk yesterday I started hanging some more soundproofing. I got one piece into position and secured into place but needed to trim it around the window frame. To do that meant taking down the window blind and it was late enough that I decided to kick it out until Monday. I don't...

    Lämmchen's Workout Thread

Another 8 mile run today. My suggested workout was 45 minutes at a gentle pace. I did 45 minutes at a slightly less gentle pace but still kept my heart rate way down compared to normal. Then I ran the rest of the route at a marginally faster rate. As with yesterday I don't really feel like I've...

    The worst kind of person

Its hard to say for sure. I've experienced the child behind who kicked the seat while the parents did nothing, until I reached around and squeezed the little brat's leg hard enough they decided not to kick any more. I've experienced the person who decided to apply toenail polish that stank out...

    "Fine dining"

What it means to me is having exceptional quality food and accepting it's going to be an expensive night out. What it often seems to mean in practise is hideously overpriced food where you pay through the nose for a night out and still come away hungry and some kind of bizarre concept that it's...

    Lämmchen's Workout Thread

Curiously not all that long after my run today I don't actually feel like I've been running. Maybe I'll get another run in tomorrow. On Sunday we're going to a friend's house right after church so I don't imagine I'll be doing much more than a gentle walk to maintain activity streaks, so I'll...

    Lämmchen's Workout Thread

Two badges in one workout today. The challenge was to run a 10k this weekend (Friday - Sunday). I decided to run my 8-mile route to cover the 10k distance, because I've been working on endurance rather than outright speed for a while. So I got my pretty badge and got another one for completing...

    "What jobs can ChatGPT replace?"

Often you get stock answers from customer services but if you're talking to a bot it's all you ever get. I've found that once you actually get through to a human you at least have a chance of getting something useful. I remember some of the seemingly useless answers from customer services but...

    "What jobs can ChatGPT replace?"

The trouble with AI replacing customer services is that so often all AI wants to do is spit out stock answers. Personally if I call customer services it's usually because I need something more than a generic query I could look up for myself. I get truly sick of dealing with endless chat bots...

So... What are YOU doing? - Part 8

Got a bunch of random bits and pieces fixed around the house. I got the blade sharpened on the lawn mower (it was interesting trying to get it off, since the blade didn't want to stay still when I put a big wrench on it, and I ended up using a scrap of iron pipe to hold it in place), a couple of...

    The Big Extraction

Yep, visions are symbolic. I can only imagine how someone from John's time would describe a vision of something we would instantly recognise in this day and age. How would someone with absolutely no clue what current technology looks like describe a cellphone, a helicopter, a rifle, a central...
