    Faith is given to us by God's Word. God gives us His promises (as seen in Acts 2) by His Word through the waters of baptism. This is why I'm confident that God works in baptism.

    But God's Word can give faith. God's Word is in the waters of baptism. So I can't give my child faith, but God's Word that is in baptism can. God promised that baptism is for children so I'll trust Him on that.
