Turtullian was not a father, he is an ancient church writer but he became a heretic and a schismatic so he is not counted among the fathers. As far as I know Filastrius is not a church father, nor Evagrius, nor Gaudentius. If you think that Lactantius, Orosius, and Ephraem taught a one year...

The Official Chat Thread - Part 2

I think questing for it does and trying to keep it does but maybe having it and holding it lightly and being willing to lose it doesn't.

I do not use the KJV for my own study but I quote it here because many who use a 66 book bible use the KJV. I have a 73 book bible.

I'm cooking red lentils and vegetables to go with some tuna and some tomato paste ... it will be yummy - I know because I've cooked it before.

Yes, John 2:13 is before a Passover but it is a different one from the Passover of John 6:4. The same expression is used for both ("the Passover of the Jews was near") but your reckoning would make John 2:13 before a Passover and John 6:4 after a Passover and it seems you mean that 2:13 is...

    Acceptable year of the Lord

John 6:4 appears to happen before the Passover so the Lord Jesus Christ would very likely make his way to Jerusalem for the feast but that journey does not appear to be included in the account. But your view seems to be that John 6:4 happens a month after Passover since the Jewish festival...

Jehovah is our God, Jehovah alone. It does appear to mean that there is one God for Israel and his name is Jehovah. Is it also Trinitarian?

I am unpacking three items that arrived in today's mail. An owl pendant watch on a nice long chain a capacitive pen for using with my tablets and phone a wireless keyboard with a trackpad from Logitech The owl is rather cute, bigger than I expected and the chain is quite long. Good, and it...

Ask MoreCoffee about all sorts of things except identifying information ...

Because I used "coffeecup" as a nickname and when that nickname was unavailable I would use "morecoffee" ... I used a coffee cup (a mug to be precise) for tea and hot drinks in the winter and when I needed a nickname "coffeecup" came to mind easily ... that was a number of years ago. It really...

Jehovah's witnesses say that they use facts to arrive at their interpretations including the absurd ones. Since the text says "It was nearly time for the Feast of Passover, kept annually by the Jews" I see no reason to interpret that as meaning "a month after passover"

    The meaning of glory.

visionary, Your posts imply that God is "made of" something. That he has arms, legs, hands, feet, eyes, nose, mouth and so forth. In short that he has body parts and substances. Which came first, God or these parts and substances?
