    Who are you here for?

The pastor where I go to church had a message where he said sometimes people ask the question "Why am I here?" or "What am I suppose to do with my life?" and he suggested that instead of asking that question a better question would be "Who am i here for?" We discussed this in my men's group...

    Maintaining health while on vacation!

When I was a kid we would go see the grandparents in Ohio and visit all the food places we liked. There was a chicken resturant, a root beer stand and a pizza place. It was pretty much mandatory that we go to all three if we could.

    Maintaining health while on vacation!

what is this vacation thing you speak of? I rarely take time off for work, but when I have I still go jogging

    Sleeping with night guard

I think the diagnosis was wrong. Everyone in that particular dentist office had a mouth guard. It's extra money for a greedy dentist

What do you look for in a church?

When I say instill hope I mean a message that encourages me. When Paul was in prison and writing the Philippian letter he repeatedly said to rejoice in the Lord. He could do this regardless of the circumstances. We can't rejoice in our circumstances at times because they change all the time...

    Sleeping with night guard

Years ago my dentist told me i had TMJ and needed one and I said thanks, but no thanks and didn't do it. Funny that they never mention in anymore and I go get a cleaning every six months. It's isn't the same dentist either

    Boy Scouts now accepts girls

What's next? Will boys be allowed to join the girl scouts? This seems really stupid to me. I remember years of going to cub scouts, though I didn't do boy scouts. We had a lot of great camping trips and a lot of it was about having fun with other guys and doing guy stuff.

    Loving Your Neighbor

We've been in the middle of a sermon series the last four weeks about share the love. The pastor talks about there is a rhythm to receiving then sharing God's love. We have to do both. We have to realize and understand how much God loves us. But, it doesn't stop with us. He loves others...

What do you look for in a church?

I would agree with you that lyrics matter. I would also agree that there is too much pop psychology being taught in the pulpits today instead of preaching God's Word. I want to go and get a message that honors God, instills hope and focuses on His good news of redemption.

What do you look for in a church?

Yes, I wouldn't think that would happe in a spur of a moment. I would think it might impact issues such as ordaination of the pastor as well possibly? The church I attend now is nondenominational and isn't a part of a national body

    What is worship?

Yet, in an earlier post, you said it was an "act". All I'm saying is that there is more to it than that. Motive and intention matters. Look at 1 Corinthians 13, where Paul lists all the things a person can do and if they don't do it in love then it doesn't mean a thing

What do you look for in a church?

yes, I was wondering about that. How many local parishes actually own their own land and building. If they do leave, they have to decide who they are going to join with and that could start a lot of infighting all by itself. It really puts the local parish in a difficult position

    What is worship?

So your going to take what goes on in a person's heart out of the equation then and just make it about what I do. Never mind motives and intent. Really?

    What is worship?

I'm kinda wondering if you know what reconciliation even means? Through Christ I have been reconciled to Him. Paul has said in numerous places in scripture that he wants believer to walk in a manner that is worthy of the Lord in all respects. Look in Colossians 1:9-10 "For this reason also...

    What is worship?

And I never suggested that we do before God in our self. As a believer, we are in Christ.

    What is worship?

I don't agree at all. Romans 8:1 says there is no condemntion for those who are in Christ Jesus. When Jesus forgave my sins he forgave them all, sees me as forgiven and has separated me from my sins as far as the east is from the west. Now, I have the opportunity to live for him. If what you...

So... What are YOU doing? - Part 4

I probably pushed myself too hard. I have a habit of doing that. When I have tried elliptical it doesn't hurt, so I will just do that for now and weights.

    What is worship?

Romans 12:1 is saying to me that I should be a good steward of my body and live in a holy manner rather than indulging in immoral behavior. That's different than what it means to be in Christ to me.

    What is worship?

Based on that answer worship could look very different for different people. If worship is an act of reverence, adoration and devotion then it is a matter of what is going on in the person's heart. A person could attend worship services all day and not truly worship at all. I could also go...
