Pretty much everything we do is wasting time; even when we think we're being productive in the long run it too is a waste of time. So just ask yourself "Can I waste time here more enjoyably than over there?" that's the pivotal question ;)
In my parish church we pray out loud together many times in the liturgy and I think that helps people to overcome any fears they may have about praying out loud when others are present. We also think well of prayers that are read so folk need not feel embarrassed by reading a prayer instead of...
