    Paul paints a bleak picture of those who try to live by the law. Ultimately, I believe he comes to the conclusion that not only can we not do so, but to attempt to do so is futile. Which leads to the comments about how we are saved by grace through faith in Christ.

    I think the point is that pride keeps us from humbling ourselves and being willing to receive what God wants to give us. If we become prideful we think we can do things on our own or that we can rescue ourselves. The truly humble person has to accept God's free gift without trying to earn it...

    Did you not even read what you wrote? It also says "holyday". The point of that passage is that it is no longer important about observing a particular day of the week in terms of the Sabbath or a special day. It doesn't make you better or more holy or special to observe Saturday than Sunday...
